Ebay has this kinda cool looking device out of japan.

2 part question:

There are no absolutes and I GET THAT. But, are beauty devices purchased from japan typically genuine as opposed to "knockoffs" and, at least a fair amount of the time, of better quality/safer than buying a device on ebay from korea?

Think i want a rex kara from a korean seller on ebay bc i cant find an authorized reseller in the us. However, as just mentioned, i have some reservations and am also toying w the idea of purchasing this CAXA UP device from japan in lieu(sp?) of the REX KARA which is risky also because I have never once heard of it.

Make sense? Any insight, recommenda greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.

MTG also makes the Refa Carat which is a very high quality device. I think dermstore.com carries the Refa, so perhaps they would be amenable to carrying the Caxa? Although prices are often higher at an authorized dealer, there is the peace of mind to consider. Also, these online sellers often have discount codes you can use.

If the Caxa is a very new device, it doesn't seem that imitators would've had time to manufacture a knock-off, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Several EDS members have the Rex Cara, and I believe it is also a very high quality device. If you look in the last few pages of the Squoom thread, I think there was a link to a seller on Newegg who I thought was an authorized dealer. At least, the users were happy with their purchase.

When I do buy name-brand items on ebay or from third-party sellers on Amazon, I scrutinize the photos carefully and check them against photos I know to be genuine. No idea if that's helped, but I feel ok about the few purchases I've made that way. And when you receive the items, if they are somehow very obviously fake, I think ebay's purchase protection (which is automatic with every purchase, to my understanding) might cover that.
