Due to some breakouts around the chin , I started taking saw palmetto and spearmint tea to lower androgen/male hormones.
The first few days it made my skin so nice and soft, but around the third week, my skin feels waaaaay too soft, not in a good way. It feels like it has no real structure, just some fat mush if that makes any sense?

When you think about the biology of male skin, it is thicker and tougher and ages slower than women's. I read an article somewhere that women with high androgen have thicker skin. Should I discontinue using them or maybe reduce dosage?

Has anyone taken anti androgen herbs / prescription like spiro and noticed this?

I think perhaps the best thing would be to drop one or the other and perhaps just take spearmint tea once a day to see how you get on, or even take a break completely and then just start again one cup a day.

I do understand what you mean re male and female skin. I am female with high levels of androgens and while I dislike the greasy open pored texture of my skin it is thick and wrinkle free compared to my peers.

I may try the spearmint tea myself!

I take 100 mg of Spiro and have never noticed what you are talking about. I guess it is the right dose for me!

pandora, that is exactly how I feel about my skin. While I don't like the fine hair and clogged pores, I like that it appears thicker than my peers.

LauraLizzie, its all about balance! Glad you found what works for you.
