I have moderate acne scarring and discoloration on my cheeks and heard dermarolling is a good treatment for those problems. I have recently gotten sublative on my face once a month a couple of times, and have seen some slight improvement but sublative is expensive and dermarolling is kind of a do-it-yourself sublative.

I did some research and think the 1.0mm needle is best for me, but was wondering about the frequency. Some places online say you can roll once every 2 weeks with 1.0mm but a lot of people in this forum say once a month at most. Is it better to dermaroll more frequently with a smaller needle? or less frequently with a longer needle? for example, once a week with 0.5mm or once a month with 1.0mm?

I still have 2 more sublative sessions left. I was thinking of dermarolling every 2 weeks with 1.0mm inbetween sublative. So the schedule is sublative -2 weeks wait- dermarolling 1.0mm - 2 weeks wait - another sublative.

Is this schedule too intensive? Should I wait for the sublative sessions to end before dermarolling myself?

I'm not too familiar with Sublative other than what I've just Googled about it. I would not advise doing both Dermarolling and Sublative. If your gonna just Dermaroll, I would look into a single needle for acne scars and maybe a derma- stamp for your cheeks. A 1.0mm derma-stamp done once every 4 weeks would be a good option along with the single needle. There is so much bad information online about rolling. So many sites and Youtube suggest rolling far too frequently and pioneers in the field (Dr.Fernandez and Dr.Setterfield) caution against this. Word has it that the FDA is looking into Dermarolling because of many of the idiots like you see on Youtube and the complaints of people being injured by clueless estheticians. Much of the progress these people report from rolling far too frequently is due to inflammation being confused for improvements.

Hi, have you had a really thorough look through the Owndoc forum? Many acne sufferers are commenting there. I get the distinct impression that rolling isn't nearly as helpful as single-needling into the depths of each scar. It's logical: the dents are what you want to built up to even things out. I take the same approach to deep lines: not rolling the whole area but single needling (or small diameter 1.5mm length stamps) for my deep lines, and it works.

Good luck, young people deserve beautiful skin Smile.
