Hi,

I've recently come across a supplement by Life Extension called FernBlock, I was curious how long the effects of protection are for this product. Also is there anything we can do dietary wise to protect ourskin or immediately recover damaged done from sun. I mean once we stop taking it, does it still protect us from sun damage for a number of days?

Anything else I can do if I can't use sun lotion?

Thanks,

Mike

My first question would be why can't you use sunscreen? I've known about FernBlock for some time from Life Extension but never tried it. I love Life Extension and have learned a great deal over the years from them but they can over hype certain products at times. This may be one of those items. http://examine.com/supplements/Polypodium+leucotomos/

Not saying it does not work but it works against UVB rays mainly. Nothing wrong with that but it's the UVA rays (deep penetrating) that are most aging. I would think the effects may last a few days after taking it.

I take Astaxanthin, Leutin, and Lycopene which work in a similar way. Google all 3 with the words "Sun Protection" after them to learn more. I take them for much more than just sun protection. A phyto-nutrient rich diet diet. Dark colored veggies, fruits offer much protection.

If you truly cant wear sunscreen, sun avoidance, hats, long sleeve shirts, etc. is your best bet. A good Vitmin C serum will offer some protection as well.

I am using Sunsafe Rx which has the fern extract plus astaxanthin, lycopene and zeaxanthin and some vitamins- A, C. E and Zinc.I have been taking it for about 6 weeks. I love it and I feel like my skin has improved especially on my arms. My skin on my arms used to be kind of crepey but looks much better now I think. I take it every day but I also consistently use Jane Iredale SPF 20 powder on my face and a mineral based sunscreen on my body. I feel good knowing I am doing everything I can to protect my skin.
