Hi
I'm just about to place a big order on EDS and I've been considering lots of products for a long time, but we're coming up to Summer now and it gets really hot and humid here so I'm wondering if a couple of them will be useable. (my skin's normal, not oily, bit drier now with the argireline, 41, bit sundamaged/wrinkled)
So here they are: -
I want some JI pressed powder and I've read some great reviews of using this with the JI D20 hydration mist (flawless skin apparantly), but it also says it can be used as a moisturiser so maybe it's heavy/sticky. Has anyone tried this in humid conditions and if so do they still recommend it? And do you really need some kind of hydration mist with the powder or is it good alone?
Second thing is it's a toss up between DDF organic sunblock SPF30 and Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defence SPF30. They both get rave reviews, but has anyone tried both and/or tried them in humid conditions?

We're just coming out of summer (which in Brisbane is hot and humid generally) so I can, unfortunately speak from experience. I have normal skin at the moment and though most of this summer I have been using Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel, JI Pressed Base, and then JI H2O. I really don't think the JI H2O can be used instead of moisturier, unless you have oily skin. I've used up my bottle of H2O and I'm currently using Jurlique Rosewater spray in its place. When that finishes, I have a bottle of JI Balance lined up. I don't think it matters too much if you set your makeup with the D2O, as long as you set it with a spray of something a little bit hydrating. I would use the JI pressed base without spraying something over it.
In terms of sunblock, I use the Ultimate UV Defence and I'm fine with that in our climate. I can't quite remember if I ever tried the DDF one  |

It’s hot and humid nearly all year round in TX and I have oily skin too, which makes it a lot of fun trying to keep your makeup in place! Because my skin was so oily, I loathed using “traditional” moisturizers because they made my face feel even greasier, so for a while I was using JI’s D20 spritz as a moisturizer.
When you first apply it, it feels kinda “slippery,” but once it dries down (about 90 seconds), you can’t even tell that you have anything on your face (I mean that in a good way, i.e.: no greasy after-effects). After the D20 dries, I apply my JI pressed powder foundation...this worked okay, but I’d still get the ‘shineys’ by lunch time.
I no longer use the D20 these days since I discovered the holy grail for oily skin: Decleor Ylang Ylang Aromessence Oil and Decleor Hydra-matt Regulating Fluid. When I apply these before I put on my makeup, I notice that my makeup stays put (i.e.: it no longer melts away in the heat) and I don’t need to blot the oil from my face any longer. Of course, we haven’t had any super hot/muggy days yet this year (i.e.: over 100 degrees F with 99% relative humidity), but I feel that my current regimen will hold up pretty well under those conditions...better than anything else I’ve ever tried, at any rate!! |
