Hey everyone I am a 20 year old male and have been frustrated for a while now, so I decied to make an account hoping someone could help me solve my problem. Basically I have never really had a problem with acne at all, never used any creams or anything like that. I always use to just get one small pimple a month that would heal right up and leave no sign. Now the problem is although I still get a pimple here and there each month. What has begun happening this year is that these small pimples are not even healing anymore and when the head falls off it leaves a huge dark spot that does not go away at all.I just had a very very tiny pimple that you seriously could not see unless you were so close to my face and I could not believe that it has left a huge dark spot from just that tiny thing. It is literally driving me insane cause at this rate the spots will continue adding up eventually making me look like I have severe acne.I have tried many moisturizers and have even took vitamin c a couple times. I really need to find a soultion to this cause my skin just wont heal at all. If anyone has a clue what it could be please let me know.I am thinking it could be some type of defiency but I am not sure.Thank you to all who reply. |

Okay a few things here. At 20 years you are still growing and developing believe it or not and usually until you hit your 22/23 years your hormones are still developing and adapting. That’s important to recognize because often spots or acne can be due to the hormones being out of balance. Now the fact you were getting a pimple each month is also important.
Now to get your face back on track you will need to do more than take Vit C a couple of times. You should be taking Vit C daily without fail and using sunscreen. Now did you pop the pimple? Usually when a pimple darkens its because the body is trying to heal itself up, and its part of the process. Usually the dark won’t stay around forever but it does need some downtime to heal up. So what you can do in the mean time is use a really good moisturizer to help your body heal up. Maybe trying an oil at night before your bed which will help moisturize and heal the skin at the same time. You could even use a Vit C serum too (and make your own quite cheaply).
It could very well be a deficiency but you will only find that out by having blood work taken. Depending on how long this has been going on you may also want to talk to your doctor about it because it could be an underlying health concern too. |

Do you currently do anything for your skincare routine?
You should wash your face daily and cleanse it to remove all of the dirt and oils. Exfoliate a few times a week for a better clean. And moisturize with something that works for you. Everyone is different so what might work for one might not for the other. Try vitamin c, coconut oil, shea butter, or a natural face oil serum (I use ora's amazing herbal, but there are others I think shea moisture is the brand i tried before). Time and patience are needed you would need to do it a few months before determining if it's right for you or not, unless you break out with that product or things get obviously worse from it. |

Just taking vitamin C pills a couple of times won't do anything. Vitamin C serum, however, can help to fade PIH from acne. You need to be wearing sunscreen everyday as well or the sun will cause the PIH to darken. You can also try fading the mark with AHAs. |
