I have very dry lips and they are also dark in color. Can somebody suggest a good DIY lip remedy? Currently, I use vaseline on them which helps with dryness but lips are still very rough and scaly and dark.

A readily available ingredient that can help you get pink lips is beetroot. It has natural bleaching properties that can lighten dark lips.

Apply fresh beetroot juice to your lips before going to bed. Wash it off the next morning. The natural red color of the juice will turn your dark lips rosy. Do this daily before going to bed.

I understand the Vaseline is moisturizing well but you still have dry flakes? Are you exfoliating your lips at all? There is products available or the cheap way is a damp washcloth and then apply your lip product ie Vaseline, etc.

Honey is always a quick effective fix. I always use honey. If honey is not available, I use petroleum jelly as an alternative. Both should work nonetheless.

Hi there,
As a fellow dry-lip sufferer, I've tried many different lip balms and treatments. I know of nothing that will affect the colour (unless you count the removal of tired skin) but I do have a routine that works for me for keeping lips soft and fresh. I use Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser (let it soak on lips for a minute and rub to exfoliate). Use either 3Lab Perfect Lips or Sisley Nutritive Lip Balm every night - a thick goopy layer to let it really do its thing overnight.
Good luck with it! I was using Laura Mercier Lip Silk until they discontinued it (rats!) and searched the world for a suitable replacement, even taking all the raw ingredients down to my local compounding pharmacy. They were a bit bewildered but couldn't help. So I tried more than 30 other brands before settling on these two as a suitable replacement for lips that are very prone to dryness, chapping and peeling.

Hi There!

It is not enough to exfoliate your lips etc... you need to challenge the tissue... by doing so you will eventually make them soft, subtle and fuller. Your lips will again hold their natural moisture... No need for lip balms etc.

Quote:
FlexEffect's Lip Press:

Curl both lips over your front teeth and bite down in a blotting motion. Be sure to work your upper/lower lips to their outer lip line and outer corners.

Do this 3 times a day... 1 set = 6 to 10 reps.

At first, if done with sufficient pressure, it should feel uncomfortable. In a few days, it will feel GREAT! In one week you'll be blown away...that's when you will also notice the thickening of your lips!
