Hey fellow skin care enthusiasts!

Facial muscle tension is wrinkling our skin (and may be increasing anxiety). Heal thyself with compression.

Wrinkles and folds in facial muscles cause the overlying skin to wrinkle and fold as well.

Compression may be used to eliminate muscle tension to relax and smooth muscles allowing the overlying skin to appear smooth as well.

Check out the article that I wrote about facial muscle compression:

Whilst I believe in the bone stuff - to me the Dr is not a good example of this stuff. He has written a lot and its interesting to see he wrote this back in 2015. It is interesting to see the things he uses thought to compress the bone. I'm more of a visual learner though so I need to see things and its a shame he hasn't done a video? I wonder if his thoughts have changed since writing this?

Hi All!

mahi75 and wishee Thanks for enjoying my article! Yes, I think I might need a Yamuna ball. I am using a 2-inch yoga ball and other massage tools for now.

Aam24 - As a mature person, I have held tension in my muscles for a long time and was very sore. If you have no soreness, your muscles are probably not tight. Great that you tried again and found your tender spots! Those are tight spots that will soften with time and work.

TheresaMary - honestly, there is very little published on trigger point therapy or fascia therapy for the face. The Dr. that I found was really the only reference. It makes sense to me, I can feel it and I still include it in my routine. The muscles do get softer with time and it is a nice feel and look.

My update - I continue to do this. At some point I will write a follow-up article. I am working on releasing the fascia and muscle tension in my forehead. I also am trying to change my facial expression habits and wearing Frownies nightly to change the muscle habits.

I still believe that releasing muscle tension is beneficial to facial/skincare. Also, if the tension in the muscles is released, facial exercises will be more effective!

Take good care of yourself!
HGG
