Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum and it's nice to meet you. I'm a 32 year old male, and I've been chewing gum during the last month for many hours every day. I also did one facial exercise (few times a day) for lifting my cheeks because they are a bit saggy. The cheeks lifter exercise I did is by FACEROBICS (it's easy to find on youtube, I just cannot post a link here)

A few days ago my friends noticed that my cheeks look puffy and fat. I don't know whether it's the gum chewing, the cheeks lifter exercise, or maybe I just got a bit fat in my face.

But now I'm afraid to chew gum or do exercises. The weird thing is that on the net everyone says that chewing gum and doing facial exercises should tone your face and make it thin but not fat or puffy.

Did anyone ever had a similar experience to mine? Maybe it's better to chew gum and do facial exercises only when my face is slim?
Plus, if it's ok to ask, what facial exercises program would you recommend me to do?

Thanks a lot in advance! And sorry if my questions seem funny, I'm new to this

Good night

You know it might be worthwhile emailing Peta at Facerobics to ask. She is very kind and helpful but knows a lot more than most of us so can guide you.
One thing is that it sounds like you are spot training. That is never recommended for most people, because the exercises work. So often times you are advised to do a whole program. Peta’s program is great though and fast and easy although some of the longer reps are a little time consuming.

Now its unlikely your cheeks are puffy and fat. Exercising them wouldn’t cause either from my experience, but it may be that they are building up quickly. You see the cheeks are about 3 or 4 different muscles and when they build they can create a dramatic look like you describe. The chewing gum whilst it activates the muscles it doesn’t work them per se.

Thank you very much for your reply TheresaMary.

I coudn't find a way to contact Peta (maybe do you know how?), but if you say that her program is good I think I should stick to her full program and not just do one exercise.

And I'll try to take it easy this time and see the gradual change.

Thanks again!

You can post comments/questions under her videos and she is pretty good to respond but she also has a website somewhere which has a contact section on there too.
