| Anyone know what I could do with Neem Oil, got a little bottle here that needs using up. |

I add some to clay masks since it has wonderful skin healing and anti-bacterial properties.
I also make a scalp tonic with spring jojoba + emu + peppermint + rosemary & neem. |

It says non toxic to humans, animals plants and earthworms ooo thankyou for this websits i'm going to have lots of fun squirting plants and adding it to my compost.
You lot really are a little bundle of knowledge  |

| I agree with Agave on the scalp treatment -- especially if you have an itchy scalp like me. It's also good for your nails, you can just rub it on 1-2 times per day! |

Hi
Neem leaves & bark(oil comes from the seed kernels) are used in ayurvedic preparations all the time.
All parts of the neem tree have strong anti-bacterial properties, so u can use the oil on your face (helps with acne), hair (helps remove dandruff, dryness), & even as a mouthwash. I use neem toothpaste & love it. If it is pure oil (i.e., food grade quality), u can drink it (good for tummy aches, poor digestion, etc).

| Isn’t Neem oil good for rubbing on your fingernails/cuticles to make them all nice and healthy...? I could’ve sworn I saw some Neem oil nail product from Dr. Hauschka for nearly $40USD a bottle.... |

| Yep, I use it all the time! I also own a few bottles of Dr. Hauschka neem hair treatments! I personally prefer it on my nails. |

Am off to Asda tonight, so will pick up some ground almonds (grapeseeds oil is on offer at Holland and Barrett at mo), this weekend I will make up Dr H CC and add some Neem oil it makes sense as it's an antibacterial.
Yes will do a scalp treatment as well. yes carekate I have also seen the Dr H neem oil treatment had a look at the ingredients of this:
Peanut oil, neem leaf extract, apricot kernel oil, matricaria extract, lavender essential oil
I'm sure I could make up my own version of this. |

Here's the recipe for the Dr. H cleansing creme:
There's no exact recipe - you can adjust the quantities to suit yourself. But basically as a starting point I grind up about 12 almonds very finely in a coffee grinder, then add oil (I like grapeseed because it's very fine and light) drop by drop till the blend looks about right. Some people like a ratio of 1 teaspoon almond meal per 1/2 teaspoon oil, but personally I find this too much oil.
In England you can buy whole almonds (that is unblanched) either at a health food shop or at the supermarket - in the US I'd buy them at Whole Foods etc. There's a brilliant book called The Fragrant Pharmacy by Valerie Ann Worwood which is crammed with recipes like this one for skincare, haircare etc.
You can choose whether or not you want to add a drop or two of essential oil like lemon or basil (my favourites) or something more luxurious like rose. It really is just a matter of trial and error to find the texture that you like.
While I haven't tried this recipe yet (I have the grapeseed oil, but it will probably be Sat before I get the almond meal) I am definately going to give it a try. Since I've had so much success using Camelia Oil I am going to mix that into the recipe as well.

I hate to be pissy, but I think it would be nice if you gave credit to the person who actually posted the recipe in the first place so credit and kudos can be given when due. been doing some research on this as i've never used it in skincare or aromatherapy and apparently it has numerous handy uses.
Good for itchy scalp etc as has already been mentioned but is also good at getting rid of nits.
Fungal infections of nails and skin eg athletes foot,
Rashes and acne Rosacea (an inflamatory disorder of the skin)
Liver spots and vitiligo (hypopigmentation)
thrush
warts
stress
insect bites
gum problems
chicken pox etc etc etc......
