well if you get the license in florida and you can't use it anywhere else, and you plan to move...what's the point? |

I'd do some calling around first and make sure the 260 hours can be transferred to another state. The FL school will probably tell you it will transfer, but I'd call the other state(s) too. Also there may or may not be a time limit on the transfer. Please check into it first and let us know! Good luck!

I found this information on the New York State Deparment of Licensing website:
3. A person licensed by any other state or country to practice nail specialty, waxing, natural hair styling, esthetics or cosmetology shall be allowed to practice in New York State for three months or less within any calendar year for the purpose of giving to, or receiving from, persons who are licensed under this article training in current styles, techniques or materials, provided however, that no such unlicensed person may provide services to the public for any fee, or other compensation, whether direct or indirect.
Application for full educational credit may be made by individuals who have completed an approved course of study in another jurisdiction that equals or exceeds the number of hours and content required for New York State licensure.
Unfortunately the requirement is 600 hours, so you won't be able to transfer your credits. It would probably be best to wait and take the course in NYC if you are moving soon. BTW, I live in NYC and I'm sure you'll love it here.

I'm not familiar with any schools, but I'm sure you can find a number on that website and give them a call. They might be able to give you a list of state approved courses located in your new neighborhood. Good luck!! When are you moving? |
