Hi:
My mom recommended me to this site. I'm 36 and up until recently looked very young for my age. I've been using Proactive for 3 years and it looks like it has stopped working. I have relatively oily skin and am prone to pimples but not too bad. Lately I look yellow and dry, with pimples and hyperpigmentation (sounds worse than it looks, I hope).
I have no idea what to use!
Thanks much. |

the one product that has helped put some glow into my skin is Vitamin C serums. It's an antioxidant and will help protect against skin damage. I think it's even helped clear up some of my acne. I'm using the skinceuticals line and vivier is another popular one. Do a search (upper right corner of page) and you'll find lots of info on Vit C! |

I totally agree with Lianne. Vit. C Serum is awesome for your skin. The one big thing I noticed was the color of my skin changed when I started using a product with Vit. C. I too was sallow. No more...I have a nice rosy glow to my skin.
Good Luck,

You might want to start using a retinoid (Retin-A or less powerful, retinol product) to speed up cell turnover and help with acne. It will also help with fine wrinkling. 36 is a great age to start using it, too. Helps to reverse sun damage if you have any as well. You could use it at night. I alternate my nights between Retin-A and a 10% glycolic/lactic acid serum. The AHA serum is wonderful for smoothing and brightening skin. So, there's the night-time taken care of.
For the day, I agree that a C serum (I use the Cellularskinrx.com one)will make your skin "glow" again as well as prevent free radical damage that prematurely ages your skin. It can also regulate oil production - an added bonus!
Lastly, be sure and use a daily sunscreen if you do nothing else. The sun is your skin's enemy! |

Hello and welcome!
Along with the other great rec's you've received might I suggest you look into YonKa. Their Juvenil is a great spot treatment for pimples or you can mix it in with a moisturizer. I am sampling a few products from this line and I must say I LOVE Phyto 58.
This PM moisturizer not only adds moisture to my skin but also gives it a wonderful glow (face just seems to take on more color and feels perky, if that makes sense ). btw. I am 39 and it's great when I can wake up in the morning and see nice results. The YonKa is quite extensive and can be hard to decipher. You'll find many posts about this line if your interested in doing a search. Hope this helps! |

I also think that a vitamin C serum would be a very good choice for you. Given that you mentioned that you have oily skin, I would recommend either the Cellex-C or the Skinceuticals serum. I would also suggest that you start using (if you're not) a good exfoliant. I can highly recommend Dermalogica Microfoliant. I have had very good overall skin brightening results with the combination of vit C serum use and daily Microfoliant use. |

..and just make sure that a health issue isn't causing your skin to misbehave - just to be safe I'd check in with your doctor to make sure that the sallowness isn't a symptom of an underlying medical condition. I'm thumbs up with the VC too!

I found what really made my skin look new again was a mild at-home peel system. I use the Avon Anew Clinical 2-step peel. It is 10% glycolic acid (used every other day for a month). It is so super easy, and I have noticed a huge difference. My skin is glowing and my pores are greatly reduced.
Good luck. Looks like you have a lot of choices. Hope one (or two) of them works for you.
