My yonger brother suffers from really, really bad acne. He's 22 now and still has acne that's so "adolescent." He's been on medication and numerous other things which didn't help. He tried Proactiv and was successful for awhile until all of sudden it stopped working. He's also got really bad scarring from the acne as well. Any product suggestions?

If it's realy really bad acne, then the only thing is Roaccutane. But you have to have regular blood tests whilst on it to monitor your liver function.

It cured my younger brother's cystic acne. I've taken it myself as an emergency treatment 2 months before my wedding day. It SAVED me.

i've been using differin for my acne which has to be prescribed by the dermotolgist. it works really well in drying up your skin. i highly recommend it.

as for scars, as long as you/him don't have sensitive skin try NEO STRATA HQ GEL, it's worked wonders for me.

remember you have to use it twice a day and will only see results at the end of the second month. but it does work.

Hi Julia!

I'm actually also in Toronto. wave

I've also used Differin Gel. For me, it made my face an utter oil slick. Sad Somehow I think it shed my surface layers so well that the oil has no problem dispersing to each and every corner of my face. Laughing

i have oily skin too. it's worse in the summer than the winter.

with differin you're only supposed to use it once a day before bed.

i will admit that it doesn't help with new acne. I still break out but it keeps it under control.

Hi, Accutane is the only medicine that will just about "cure" almost every case of cystic acne. It was created for such acne although many people use it for much milder acne. Your brother is young and I assume healthy so with a doctor's supervision and blood tests he should be fine. He will need a good lip balm and perhaps some eye drops. Accutane literally dries up everything.
After accutaine, Retin-A Micro is a good choice. But only use the Micro which is much dryer than the cream or the gel. I hope his skin clears up soon. I know how terrible this can be. Get to a dermatologist as soom as possible and get him on Accutane. Best, joani

I also suggest Roaccutane. My mother is a dermatologist and she gave it to my bf because he has really really bad ance (all over the places, deep one). After a month his acne had clear out and he stoped taking it after 3 months. However.. there are some side effects though, you should check carefully before you decide to take it.
