I'm thinking about trying this, but am a little hesitant because years ago, I had a bad experience with Cellex C. It caused a lot of irritation to my skin (redness, dryness, burning sensation). Is it safe to assume that a higher strength of Vitamin C is not for me? Or would this product be gentler? I currently use ADCE and Skin Prep and LOVE these products. |
When Cellex C came on the market approximately 20 years ago I was in line to get it from my derm. I found Cellex drying thus irritating. Janson Beckett's C&C is gentle and most effective. Love it!!!
Here is the info from JB's website:
Vitamin C&C Facial Serum (.5 Oz)
Area of Application & Benefits
Repairs Environmental Skin Damage on Face & Hands
Dual Source Vitamin C Promotes Collagen Synthesis
Removes Dark/Age Spots From Face/Hands & Body
Non-Irritating Vitamin C Formula
Contains 2 Best Forms of Vitamin C Concentrate
Uses 5% of Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate & Sodium Ascorbate
Our dual source Vitamin-C formula combines precise concentrations of magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and sodium ascorbate. This potent Vitamin-C serum helps to protect against and repair environmental skin damage and signs of aging while stimulating collagen synthesis.
Vitamin-C is a clinically proven potent and beneficial antioxidant. Study after study has demonstrated that it "kick-starts" collagen production in sluggish less energized skin cells. When applied to an area where fine lines and wrinkles are present it boosts the collagen levels and helps fill in the unwanted fine lines and wrinkles.
"Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate is a water-soluble derivative of vitamin C rapidly gaining popularity in skin care. It is nonirritating and more stable than vitamin C. Most importantly, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate appears to have the same potential as vitamin C to boost skin collagen synthesis but is effective in significantly lower concentrations. Overall, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate appears to be a better choice than vitamin C for people with sensitive skin and those wishing to avoid any concomitant exfoliating effects. (Most vitamin C formulas are highly acidic and therefore produce exfoliation.)" - Smartskin.com
Skin care products with magnesuim ascorbyl phosphate are available and their number is growing. Be careful though. Many products contain less than effective concentration and fail to boost collagen synthesis. But our Vitamin C&C Facial Serum contain the optimum percentage for collagen synthesis.
Our Vitamin-C Facial Serum contains additional ingredients to Lighten and Remove dark spots / age spots caused by external UVA and UVB exposure. This formula includes mulberry, lime, bitter orange, and lemon extract to name just a few. This formulation works both for lightening spots on the facial area as well as hand and body. These well known extracts also enhance the overall brightening effect our Vitamin-C Serum has on the skin.
Our stabilized Vitamin C&C Facial Serum is the perfect addition to your anti-aging regimen.
Designed to offer individual benefits, our Vitamin-C Serum works exceptionally well when used in conjunction with our Anti-Aging Amino Peptide Formulations.
Directions: Cleanse and dry face. Use dropper to place a few drops on finger tips. Pat gently around eyes, forehead, cheeks, or wherever antioxidant benefits are essential. Allow the C-Serum to absorb over time, do not rub in until dry! Simply pat on and let it self absorb.

I second that C&C is a nice and mild serum, that is not likely to cause reactions.
The reason why I would use another C serum on most of my face, is that I prefer a higher potency serum.
The C&C is probably a good choice for sensitive skin. |

Winnie & Septembergirl....thanks! I think I'll give it a whirl. I do Janson Beckett products, so I'm sure this will probably be a winner too! Yeah, it was a good thing I bought the Cellex C from the Shopping Channel years ago because I was able to get a full refund. |

What is the percentage of C in this item? Anyone know? I'm looking for a good Vit. C product. |

Lunarmm, on the top of this side Winnie quotes J&B's website:
Uses 5% of Magnesium Ascorbyl Palmitate and Sodium Ascorbate
I think you can read this in two different ways, either 5% of each that adds to 10% in total or 5 % in total. I tend to believe that it's only 5% vitamin C in this serum.
I have been using this serum around my eyes and on my nose for some weeks, and it has not caused neither blackheads nor irritation. It's perfect for sensitive skin. I prefer to use a more potent vit C serum in the rest of my face to get a healthy glow. |

My first purchase from EDS and I love it. I don't use it every day, only three or four times a week, mostly in the evening and as far as I can see, my skin likes it. No irritation, just smooth skin and a healthy glow. |

thanks for that Karina, I too struggled with the cellex & skinceuticals vit c, I don't know if it was me but it seemed to settle in my pores, perhaps the formula didn't suit me. I'm looking forward to trying this. |

I think the C&C by Janson Beckett is by far the best C I have ever used. I buy all the JB products and love them. However, the C&C is a bit expensive for me. I figure it will last me a month. Don't know if I can keep up. Will give it my best shot.
Wish it was in a 1 oz. bottle. Just not willing to pay $100.00 an oz. for C. |
how long can be used with this 15ml , i want to use this one as well, wondering too expensive |

I'm still quite happy with the results of using this serum. No clogged pores (mine are not enlarged, but nonetheless they look smaller when I use it frequently) and a nice glow. I was a little insecure that it might cause irritations on my skin, but it doesn't, not in the slightest. I'm glad I ordered it twice . |

Ian/Winnie.........i just wanted to ask, after reading somewhere else on the forum..........do vitamin c serums have to be applied in the mornings so as to have maximum effect..........because i usually apply the janson beckett C&C serum at night......basically because it's the only time i have to apply it properly......in the mornings, i'm busy getting the kids ready for school.......one of them being my husband (1 of my other kids)..........regards Karina |
I have read two totally different suggestions for vit c serum. Some say apply in morning; some say at night. Personally, I apply mine in the evening because it is seems to absorb better if I just put it on and leave it there. And evening is the only time I am walking around with nothing on my face except vit c serum. |

VC is always hard to use, because after using it, we have to keep our face out of sunshine(even the light indoor), or else spot would come to our face slowly.
However, this product--Janson-Beckett C&C Serum
-- is so good that could help me solve this problem. And, what's more important is, it really could work out, making my face turning healthy!!! |

I eager to know:
1. Could this product be used in the morning? If not, I can not find any other serum in the Janson Beckett brand, so what serum could I use in the morning?
2. Could Janson Beckett CE or Janson Beckett Prep be used after the c&c serum step? |

I'm another one who really really likes this vit.C serum, it's excellent for sensitive skin & just vanishes into your skin. I just don't understand why vit. C serums are so expensive!! |

i was told that a vit c serum is best for use during day as it will help against sun protection.
whats the advice for this serum? is it day or night? or both? it has mulberry extract second on the list....the only thing im worried about day usage is it making me more sensitive to sun n hence more pigmentation??
also is this just for spot treatment or applied over whole face? |
