...together with the Vit C serum and sun protection? I have tried SC's Phyto+ in the past but with no results..
I have a few age spots on the cheek area and would love to get rid of them....
What is 'Prevage' and would that help?

Like you, I did not find any improvement using SC Phyto for my hyperpigmentation.
Is yours melasma or hyperpigmentation? I have melasma, and tried so many different solutions
(vit C, SC Phyto, Retin-A, etc...), and
vit C seems to help. I am taking MSM supplements and they seem to help too. I
recently started using Godiva cream (that has
licorice). I think it is helping (though it
is too early to tell).
I did not use Prevage, but there are several topics here on this forum regarding it. If you do a search, you would find the links. |

One more thing that I forgot to mention is to use a photostable sunblock. It is no use
correcting the skin, and not preventing new problems. |

Thank you for replying. What does photostable mean? I thought I was using a good quality sunblock (SkinCeuticals Ultimate UV Defense SPF30) but maybe not....
Im sorry but I dont know the difference between melasma and hyperpigmentation...I have about 5/6 freckle type 'spots' scattered across both cheeks, I have Indian skin - the spots are a darker brown to my own skin colour...they are not hugely visible but I have a feeling they will be soon!
What are MSM supplements? Vitamin C is great, I have used it before, just need to decide on one and order it - which may take a long time!
I have read on these forums and other places that Camelia oil and epidermx (microdermabrasion) can also help..anyone had any good results? |

A sunscreen should have protection against UVA and UVB. Mostly, they are effective against UVB, but few against UVA.
I use La Roche Posay fluide Extreme 60. It is
a little oily, but has mexoryl, which has proven
to be very effective against UVA.
MSM = Methylsulfonylmethane
I buy MSM from any grocery store. They are
great for joints, and also for face, hair,
etc...
Hyperpigmentation mostly affects the epidermal, and exfoliation will help greatly, but melasma is more internal and MSM might
help. |

I'm in a similar situation re - pigmentation. I have naturally dark hair but quite fair skin. A few summers ago my boyfriend kept telling me I had a dirty upper lip and forehead. Upon close inspection I realized they were large, pale freckles. I have now also noticed them on the outer, lower corners of my eyes (just above my cheek bones) and also on the bridge of my nose. Naturally they get worse over summer but as I live in Australia, it's impossible to avoid the sun entirely.
I've considered lazer treatments - but do you think this is the way to go? |
