Hmm actually I'm confused how the Essential balm differs from the YY, since both are de-congesting and purifying? |

I look at the Ylang Ylang, in my case, as going after controlling the oilies I get. Then, I use the Essential to balance it out so I don't over dry (though like I said I've used it for longer before). |

IC, well I have samples of the YY so I'll try it. Tried the Rose balm once and think my skin didn't really like it. Actually I find the Essential Balm balances and reduces my oil production quite well already. |

So am I getting it right that you apply a thin layer at night, leave it on and continue with normal morning routine for a two week period or longer if your skin can handle it? I think I might try it tonight as my skin is definitely pretty congested even with the dry winter weather. Thanks! |

I've honestly heard different things. I'm not even quite sure I've ever actually read from Decleor that you only use it for a short period of time before taking a break.
I've heard three weeks for the Ylang Ylang, then one week off, and two weeks for the Essential. I read that here I believe and on MUA boards... |

I've tried the Essential Balm and the Rose d'orient. The Essential Balm does help to reduce oil production but maybe because it is oily itself so the face does not produce that much oil to compensate for the dryness.
Don't use this regularly cause I prefer my face to be free to breathe at night and it's too oily for use during the day. Very calming effect if that's what you're after at bedtime. |

Two questions. Can you put serums and stuff on before the essential balm at night? And does anyone have any problems taking it off in the morning or feeling like there is a left over film? And if so, is this a problem and how have you tried to combat it? Thanks! |

you don't need to put anything before the decleor balm. It's good as it is. You can put it before the balm if you like or in the morning.
you need only a very small amount - a pearl drop. Not any more. Your face looks refreshed in the morning. I use the balm every night except when i put the moisturising mask once a week at night. |

What's the functional difference between Essential Balm and Iris Balm or Rose Balm? |

the essential balm is for all skin types. they advertise it as having healing properties as well.
iris balm is for slightly mature skin. rose balm is for sensitive skin.
I think (not absolutely sure) that decleor first got the essential balm and the rest followed from there.
I have used the essential balm and i really like it because it does make my skin look rested in the morning. |

I have only used this a few times so I don't know about decongesting effects but I get very red when I have blemishes and this not only lessend the size of the blemishes, it completely got rid of the redness and they healed much faster than usual. I am in lust right now with this balm. Hopefully it will turn to love if it remains effective and continues to be amazing. |

Should the balm use together with Aromessence Iris? |

You should use the balm at night (hence Baume de nuit)...and the oil in the morning (if you use both a balm and an oil).
I use the oil in the a.m. (ylang ylang) and the balms at night (not both balms...I rotate).
I agree with what others have said, the balm is too much to use in the morning and under makeup but it's quite nice to use before bed. |

ParisTroika,
Do you use only the oil in the am or do you need a moisturizer as well? Is the oil supposed to act as a moisturizer or is it more like a serum? |

I don't use a moisturizer per se.
My routine:
BHA...wait 30 minutes
Antioxidant spray from I Feel Pretty (when I remember)
CareKate Pearl Creme
DECLEOR YLANG YLANG OIL HERE
Sunscreen
Etc...
I'm combo and the Ylang Ylang is supposed to balance oil and the like. I can't imagine you needing a moisturizer on top of the oil, but then again, I don't have severely dry skin.
I only put this oil in my t-zone as if I were to put it on my cheeks it might be too drying.
The Pearl creme helps moisturize for me...keeps me very well balanced. |

Thanks ParisTroika, I am really lemming the pearl creme right now and think that is probably going to be my next purchase to try. I will remember this when my next sample runs out and inevitably I don't like it. Thanks again! |

I like this one, but I prefer to use it together with Neroli oil. |

I think so. I got the free samples for Iris Balm and Rose Balm, but the texture somehow cannot get into my skin easily. Does the Essential Balm have similar texture? |

Hi Paris Trolika,
Where can I buy the pearl cream that you mentioned?
Thanks! |

Hello,
I have not used Iris balm or rose balm, so, cannot compare essential balm to these. I have, however, used Ylang ylang balm and both essential and ylang ylang balm are similar in texture.
If you have normal or combination skin (ie not a sensitive skin),then I would recommend the essential balm.
Re: the oil - Gigiab6, i put it in the am after cleaning my face. I layer the oil (also doing the acupressure method that decleor recommends) and then a light moisturiser. The moisturiser can be any brand i.e doesn't have to be decleor. The oil soaks in immediately on the freshly cleaned skin. |

I purchase my Pearl Creme from CareKate (EDS Forum Member).
You can PM her for details about her many WONDERFUL products and order from her that way.
She has very limited email access so be patient if she doesn't get back to you right away.
I recommend her HIGHLY
I don't know where I'd be without her pearl creme! |

I love this balm. It clears me up so well. I'm always afraid of how long to use it for, considering what I've heard from other forum members. I often wonder if ylang-ylang balm would be as effective, but you never hear as many raves for that here. |
