Hey everybody,

I loved my JI loose powder until a couple of weeks ago and then it started to make my skin look like a grease pit and it's not covering flaws. I haven't changed my application or any other products I'm using...any ideas what's going on?

I'm about ready to go back to regular foundations... Crying or Very sad

Laughing Love your description Lianne... well I'm not 100% sure but I thought the JI loose powder was for a dryer skin and isn't supposed to provide a matt finish (obviously shouldnt be making you look like a grease pit either). I thought the pressed powder was better for oily skin? I have the pressed which I'm still experimenting with to stop my nose becoming an oil slick by mid afternoon. I've been setting mine with Jurlique rose dust which seems to help. Though that still doesn't explain what's caused the oil influx if you weren't having these problems to start with.... hmmmm... Confused Sorry I can't be of more help!

The only things I can think of are:

- hormonal issues
- change is weather making the products you usually use no longer "right" for the skin
- brush/applicator absorbed too much oil for some reason

Not sure sorry....

Lianne,

Is it really oil on the surface, or is it just the look of oiliness? I'm not trying to insult your intelligence - I have noticed that the loose powder can give the illusion of shine.

Could it be the you are not applying enough to cover the flaws, and this "thin" layer also therefore has breakthrough shine after a while?

I am pretty stressed with school...and the weather has changed a lot, but I don't know why the big difference!

princesita, I tried the pressed and found it too matte, that's why I got the loose and it's worked fine for several months...that is until recently.

Hello, I have sensitive and oily skin. I found a foundation that truly works for me. I am wearing it now. I live in Atlanta it is very hot here. It does not make me look oily . It stays on all day and it is not cakey. I buy this foundation from a online company.

Lisa -

If I remember correctly, it was winter time when you first started experimenting with JI and/or mineral makeup in general. Maybe the loose foundation is better for you in colder weather, but you should switch off and use the pressed version during the summer...? I could’ve sworn that you told us that you’d bought a ton of samples of both pressed and loose, so if you still have them, why don’t you dig out one of the pressed samples and give it another try? Also, have you ever given the ACV toner a try? It helps regulate oil production, so maybe it could help cut down on the shine...? If you haven’t ever tried it, the experiment would only cost you less than a buck!

Also, like Princesita said, the Jurlique Rose Silk Dust is fabulous for controlling oil. Since I’m the ultimate grease ball, I apply a dusting of Rose Silk Dust *before* I apply my JI (pressed) foundation as a primer/mattifier, and then sweep on another layer to set it all. See if you can get a sample of it somewhere. If nothing else, the scent is to die for!!

HTH,
Carrie

If the weather has changed then that might be the issue - as might stress of course! I would experiment: use a normal foundation (that you have used before) and see if you get this problem; or, switch to a lighter moisturiser and keep using the JI and see if that helps.

I think I'll do a bit of experimenting with a lighter moisurizer and see what happens first. Then I'll go to a store for some primer (I've been checking out that jurlique for a while) or the pressed (unfortunately no samples left of the pressed, maybe I'll order another one).
