Wasn't sure whether to put this in the lounge section or not. It is skin related but it's skin on the feet. Smile
Over the past few weeks my boyfriend has noticed that he's got excessively dry skin on the soles of his feet. They've always been a little dry but nothing to really worry about. At the moment he looks like he's some sort of animal trying to shed it's skin! Shock
He's been putting E45 cream on them every morning and night but it doesn't seem to be helping.
His feet aren't itchy, they aren't red or sore, there is no cracking of the skin. It is just excessive peeling. He just sits around in the evenings picking at it (which I'm sure isn't helping but he won't listen Rolling Eyes ).
Anybody got any idea what it could be?
I thought maybe athlete's foot but there is no itchiness and so I wasn't sure. His toenails are fine, can't see any signs of fungal infection.
He's tried using a pumice stone on them but that hasn't made any improvement.

unichem chemists sell big tubs of a salicylic acid emollient creme, my friend uses it for her feet (and her clients to help prevent bed sores Shock ) It is dead cheap and lasts forever. Slathering it on his feet at night and making him wear bed socks (nice one sweety Very Happy) may help

I have eczema, the one that only affects hands and feet....I do tend to pick at the one bad foot Confused not pleasent. One thing that helps are those foot files, don't know what else to call it but when the foot is dry you basically give it a sanding. QVC had a nifty looking one when you applied the cream then scraped the gunk off your feet Embarassed

Toe - I had something similar a while back and my Dr said that it looked like tinea. I didn't even suspect that because it wasn't itchy. Anyhow, she told me to just apply an OTC tinea ointment and it went away.
