Well on reccomendations from the forum, i purchased this spray in Boots. The texture was quite milky and i just sprayed it onto my fingers and smoothed over my face - very easy to apply and no white mask effect and quite moisturising. I have only been using it in total about 3 days (yesterday being day 3) when i put it on to go out running. It didnt sting when i put it on, but after my half hour run my face was really really red (not just the red u get after exercise but much worse) and it was burning my face so bad - i now have a fine pimple rash all over my cheeks and my checks have also come out in a couple of spots - and i never get spots on my checks. The redness has toned down today but my skin is still quite tender and the rash is still there - i am gutted - it cost me £13.50 and it was so good with makeup, and i dont usually have that sensitive skin. I dunno. So just a warning for people who are gonna try it. |

I am so sorry for you, it's gutting whenever something like this happens I've been using the Avene 50 spray and touch wood have had no problems at all with it, I agree it's great for under make-up.
I would not continue using this on your face. see if you can return it, did you keep your reciept? See if Avene have a customer service on the website, you may be able to complain and state your reciept number, place and date of purchase.
Alternatively do a patch test on a different part of you body, you may find that you can use it for your arms or legs. |

Thanks for the concern rosebud - i know that i am probably just unlucky with this - like u say, i will test it again on my leg to be sure and if that comes up a positive i may try and return it, if they wont accept it then my husband can use it as he is really fair. The quest for my sunscreen continues..... |

I still think a complaint to Avene is worth while, you never know....they may send you a voucher....for more Avene!!!! |

This has happened to me too, not with Avene though. I think my problem is with products that contain titanium dioxide. It happened with Ombrelle SPF30 but not with the SPF15....only difference is the 30 has titanium dioxide |

Hi - I've been using this for over a week now with no stinging or rash. Now that it's so humid here, it's oilier than I'd prefer so I'm going to eventually try the Creme and Emulsion formulae in the hope that I'll find the most suitable texture for hot weather use.
The SPF60 Lait is thicker, whiter and dryer and I believe more waterproof (I'm switching back for now). If you discover that you're not allergic to Avene, you may want to try the Lait for times when you excercise and perspire a lot.
Since the spray is so much thinner and would be rendered less effective by sweat, I wonder if some of the redness you've experienced could be actual sunburn. When I exercise strenuously (haven't done so yet outdoors using Avene), my pores seem to open up more as I perspire. I wonder if that could make the product more irritating. Also, presuming you don't wear makeup or any other skin care while you run, maybe you could try LaRoche Posay Fluide Extreme SPF60 (the one Bad Bird uses). The only reason I don't use it is that other skin care products I apply degrade its active ingredient.
This is an expensive quest we're on!!! But I truly believe sunscreen that offers maximum protection is the best anti-aging product we can use. I just wish these French lines were more readily available and less expensive!!!
Good luck! April |
