I'm just so tempted to buy Frownies' Immune Perfect. It's ugly looking stuff, but I'm extremely intrigued by it being the first product to contain synthetic melanin. I really can't waste $65 on a full pot though in case it's as bad as it looks (it's mud coloured).
If you live in the US there's a free sample. You've nothing to lose, but $3.50 postage and you get a full week's supply

Any US residents please try it and then tell me what it's like. I'd be very grateful. It might just be your holy grail. You really need this. It could change your life M |

I tried it when I bought my frownies. It smelled like beef broth or a boullion cube or something. And with the color and texture I truly felt like I was putting gravy on my face. Not exactly that appealing. With only using a small sample I can't tell you that it did much for me. However my boyfreind had a breakout of some sort of excema the weekend I recieved it and he used it on his face for that. (Men!..excema cream might have been the better choice) However, he said it was soothing and helped with the imflamation and itching. Soooo..dats about it. I am not familiar with the benefits of melanin in products...what is good about it? |

Thanks Joani that's really good of you - PMing you.
Hi Elainakay - the benefits of melanin are two-fold. It's part of our skin's natural mechanism for protection against sunburn and sundamage. Production of melanin is triggered by the UVA rays penetrating your skin. It's what gives you a tan. So you could consider this the most 'natural' (though this is a synthetic version) of sunprotection chemicals.
And recent research also shows it's a very powerful anti-oxidant. This is the first product to use it and I read it's just been licensed to Johnson & Johnson and will be in the next generation of sunscreens. I'm excited by that because I find current sunscreens really unpleasant. This melanin is water-soluble as opposed to the current effective chemical sunscreens which have to use oil as their carrier base so we should get less greasy ones.
