Okay, I just went out and bought about $100 worth of MAC makeup (studio tech foundation, both powder form and cream..and concealor), because some of my friends had been raving about it. Well..anyways..I broke out like crazy from it. I mean..i got pimples where I had NEVER gotten them before..on my cheeks!!! I have never gotten acne on my cheeks..ew...never..and now i do. Well..I didnt think anything of it when it first happend..no way i spent this much money..and its gonna do this to me..so i continued using it like an idiot. Yeah..it definitely gives good coverage..just ruined my skin. Has anyone had this experience or am i the only one who has had a really bad experience from this company which is so highly regarded it seems. |

their stuff breaks me out really bad too. I can use the studio tech powder and that's it.
My Holy grail foundation was discontinued a few years back and I still haven't found one that lives up |

I'm sorry you had no luck with it. I haven't had a problem with the StudioFix or the StudioTech and I also quite like their lip glosses.
Maybe you should try out mineral makeup and see how you go? That is of course, if you have not yet done so. |

Yes, I too have had bad luck with MAC foundations or powders in the past. Their eyeshadows & lipsticks are fun to play with, but I simply cannot wear any of their foundations on my skin.
I think you might find mineral makeups calming for your skin. MMU has done wonders for my face. |

First of all I would advise you to take everything back and get a refund, MAC are good at sticking to their word and giving refunds and if you are over the returns date (you are given so many days) try to return it anyway and ask that you exchange the products you don't like for something you do.
I am actually a big fan of MAC I use the
*Studio Fix Powder, I don't use this everyday as I normally don't bother with foundation or powder but if I'm going out I use this.
*Sheertone Blush, this is my personal favourate, it looks so natural on me and I can build it up in layers.
*The concealer I use is Studio Finish, this reminds me a little of Max Factor but without the greasyness, stays on all day without clogging my pores.
*The eyeshadows have so many wonderful colours but the staying power with my oily skin is crap, I returned a lot of my eyeshadows as I thought they were not worth the money when they only stayed put for an hour.
*The Mac Paints are another Holy Grail for me, I must be the only one that loves the tubes as they remind me of my art days , in order to prevent wastage I use a lip brush for application. I can put one of the paints on in the morning and it will still be there in the evening looking just as it did when I put it on - of these I own Stilife, Mauvism and Canton Candy.
*Lipsticks I find that the colours are fantastic but the staying power!!! - clinique is better. |

I'm sorry about the way that MAC breaks you out. I can't stand AMc make-up myself I think that it works better on womwn of color as for fair tomediiiium skin color it cakes up to much and dnoes not let your skin breathe.
|

I tried MAC foundation and powder too, not sure exactly which ones (a couple years ago) but they were really greasy and the one I chose was supposed to be non-greasy. I absolutely love the make-up, especially lipstick, the colours are fabulous! I agree with Rosebud, the return policy is awesome, I returned everything I had after using it for a month. Every company should be this way! |

MAC foundation used to be my best friend..before i realized how much healthier my skin felt with mineral makeup. I prefered them because they were the only makeup that offered a shade that suited me (NC15). Now i use mineral only...but i still am devoted to their liquid liners, lipsticks, eyeshadows and even their eyebrow pencils...all very lovely. |

I keep reading threads about mineral make-up and can't understand what it's all about-never tried it. Which mineral make-up are you using and how does it differ from regular stuff????
As if I neeeded something else on my list....... |

I'm gonna go to the mall later this week and try to return all the makeup I bought. I recently ordered from a company called Aromaleigh, which I'd heard good reviews from. All their products are made from minerals, and they're alot less expensive then BE. Also, I ordered a bunch of samples from them, so I can't wait to try it all out. I'm glad i'm not the only one who hasn't found any success with MAC, it's a shame..cuz it really looked great on me..but at the expense of my natural skin. |

My favorite so far is Jane Iredale pressed base. I also have some samples coming (mostly eye shadows & blush) from BareFaced Minerals. Mineral makeup is good for your skin in that it does not block pores and is recommended for people with sensitive skin and rosacea. It's also very light weight and you don't feel like you're wearing any foundation. I find that it also covers redness very well and looks flawless given the right technique. If you do a search for mineral makeup here you will find HEAPS more info - there are many brands that sell it as well. |

Melasmaisew, please update us!
Mabsy is so right about mineral makeup. I love it for many reasons, it soothes my skin and doesn't melt away throughout the day but my favourite thing about it is how it feels on, I find liquid foundation so heavy, minerals are so light even when I have a lot to cover! I've used Bare Escentuals and Jane Iredale (Pure Luxe samples on the way) and I'm more and more leaning toward JI, the powders just seem finer and more soothing on my skin. |

Mac makes great eye shadows, blush, lipstick, lipgloss etc... but anything that comes into contact with all your skin like moisturisers, masks, and foundation/powder make me and almost ALL my friends break out, i dunno whats in the products that give alot of us such bad reactions |

I'm suprised they still keep the moisturisers going, there are so many nagative reports about them. |

I had to jump in. I haven't used their makeup, though I have used their Fast Resonse Eye Cream. It goes on nice and immediately depuffs my eyes and actually seems to brighten them. For about an hour. Then , my eyes totally react to this and start puffing up again. It's awful. Reminds me I need to throw it out. (I keep trying it, hoping maybe it's a fluke thing!! But sadly, no, something in it does not agree with my eyes). |

I use MAC at times on models that I photograph...it's great for coverage and the camera...I would however never use it on a day to day basis.
I would take the others suggestions, return the stuff that makes you break out and try something "natural" like Jane Iredale's pressed powder...it's minerals, got SPF and is so gentle that plastic surgeons use it on their clients! |

Well I am not a fan of MAC's foundation and powder, I tend to use a lot of Bobbi brown's foundation and powder, I only check out MAC's counter if I need a new eyeshadows, or blush. |

Can anyone recomend a selection of blushers that would rival Mac's Sheertone blushes? |
