After reading all the raves on ACV toner, I finally went to the store and bought double strength ACV, poured some in a bottle, added a few drops of ylang ylang, lavender and rosemary e.o and topped it off with H20. I have been using this concoction for the past 3 days and i just want to say a huge "THANK YOU" to everyone!!! I have combination skin and been having a persistent breakout on my t-zone-in particular between my eyebrows for the past 4 months. I have tried green tea masks, vitamin C serum (homemade), tea tree oil and aspirin masks to no avail. The ACV is a serious miracle worker... a persistent pimple that has been hurting for the past few days has all but disappeared, as well as the flaky scars of the other pimples.... I am sooo happy that i have discovered this!!
thanks again. I can finally look forward to having clear skin again.... |

I made up my own ACV concoction recently too. It really works doesn't it?
Right now I just have green tea & ylang ylang mixed with the cider, but I'm looking forward to adding lavendar & lemon essential oils as well.
I have very acne-prone skin, and this has helped to keep eruptions down & keeps the oilies somewhat under control. It really does seem to have an antiseptic effect: my skin feels REALLY clean after using this, but not dried out or stripped.
After reading these boards for the past few months, I've been amazed at the benefits of ordinary items found in the kitchen cupboard!!
The only thing I haven't been able to fix so far with the ACV is the smell The ylang ylang kills it somewhat, but I still go to bed smelling like salad. |

The lemon essential oil, along with the Ylang Ylang almost completely masks the smell of the ACV. |

Right you are CareKate!
I went out and splurged on some more essential oils -lavender & lemon. Tonight I added them to my toner and the smell was not as offensive.
Oh and the lemon oil? smells DIVINE. I could sit around sniffing my little vial of lemon oil all day. |

it's amazing how something so cheap can be such a miracle worker...! And yes the lemon and ylangylang do cut out the strong smell. I also experimented making the toner with lemon vinegar but it didn't have the same effect.... |

I really never thought I ever needed a toner until I started using the Dr Hauschka range, however since I made up a batch of the Apple Cider Vinegar, I abandoned my Dr H Claryfying in favour of this. I can use this before I go to bed and my skin looks so fresh the next morning. I agree the one thing you never quite mask even with the oils is the smell, but it's worrth it for the clear skin |

I agree, this toner is great. I've been using it for months now and it's still working fine. And so much cheaper than my Dr H!! |

I haven't read much here about the ACV toner, I usually stay away from toners as I've only found one that doesn't sting my skin. I'm about to take the plunge though and make my own ACV toner. My ? is (and I'm so sorry if it's been answered somewhere else) can I use grocery store ACV or does it have to be the healthfood, non-pasturized? |

If you are worried about toners stinging your skin I would be careful with the ACV. I don't have sensitive skin but I find that the ACV can sting a bit, especially on any areas where the skin is broken. You'll probably have to water it down quite considerably in order to avoid any stinging. |

Oh MAN!! Damn my finicky skin!! This is the main reason I haven't even considered this toner until now, just the thought of vinegar on my skin makes me cringe. |

You could check with Carekate regarding how much you can water down the ACV and still see the benefits. Mine is a half water/half ACV concoction (with some oils thrown in) and I find that it stings my combination skin a bit. |

Hey, waitaminute -- before you write off the ACV toner completely, you can make it a very light strength, say a ratio of 1:4 (1 part ACV to 4 parts water). If you feel any stinging, you can cut it back even more, say 1:6. And yes, you can use ordinary ACV from the grocery store -- that's the kind I've been using for nearly three months now. |

Sure thing! I already sold a bottle to ChunLisa a couple months ago. PM me with your full name and mailing address and I'll mix up a bottle for you this weekend. Tell me what your skin type is, and I'll try to customize the essential oils I use to tailor it for your skin.

• dries up and reduces redness from breakouts almost over night

• impart's to your skin "a radiant glow." |

Thank you everyone! I'm going to try a 50/50 mix tonight, if it stings, I'll dilute it more until it doesn't sting. This is what I've done with my vit c, I've got it down to a pretty low concentration so it doesn't sting at all and I'm pretty sure it's still doing it's thing, but who knows! I had rash type thing going on a week or so ago and have had to be more conservative with actives. fun, fun, fun... |

So, I tried a 30% ACV to 70% water mix last night and it didn't sting! I did tingle but it wasn't uncomfortable. It actually was really nice! I am impressed! |

Faith already pointed you to the recipe for the toner, and you can click here to read more about the different essential oils and what each of them does: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=5922&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= Toward the end, they are even grouped by skintype or skin condition.

UPDATE: For those of you who love the tingle of minty products, try adding 2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil to your next batch of homemade ACV Toner. Not only does make your face feel all tingly and clean, but peppermint oil helps treat dull or congested skin and acne, but it also helps reduce inflammation and treat broken capillaries!! I just love it when I can multi-task.... |
