Hello,

Is that true that after laser treatments for broken capillaries on the face they DO come back? As if Laser was just a temporary fix?

How much are treatments like that andhow many do you need?
Does one visit take care of the problem?

Aga

Not as far as I know. It is supposed to be a permanent solution. HOWEVER, much like with sclerotherapy, if you are predisposed you will get more of them. So even though the treatment worked you might get new spider veins coming up.

but doc used a pointy thing to burn my capillaries which left a reddish mark and few weeks later the capillaries were gone. it collapsed the blood vessels so veins and blood thingie is gone.

Mabsy,

so does it mean that even though a Laser treatment can clear them up, that in the end it would aggravate the capillaries at the same time and they would come back worse than before?

i think the "poker" is cauterization (or collapsing) and the laser is just a light pulse that while it may sting, is non-invasive.

No. What I meant was that if you are predisposed to get them then you will get more either way. So, you can get them removed but you might get more in the future (that you would have got regardless of if you removed the earlier bunch or not). I've given up on removing mine because I know that in my case it's genetic and will just keep happening.

I had mine lasered with VBeam last year. The redness has definitely improved but some came back and I've gotten a few new ones too. I am prone to them so nothing would probably work on a permanent basis for me. Was thinking about trying IPL next but my derm doesn't offer it and doesn't recommend it either but I can't afford it anyway.

A lady in her late forties had the same type of treatment. She had quite visible broken veins on her cheeks.

She said it felt like a bee sting but the veins did go away.

But when she was under a lot of stress years later, new ones came up again.

I think treatments can only destroy the veins, but doesn't ever prevent new ones from coming up.

A lot of the ones on my skin were caused by my over-zealous blackhead remover!!

I am meaning to get this done this summer. I have to get more opinions on laser zapping versus the electrical zapping techniques. I haven't found much literature on comparisons.
I am taking Resveratrol to strengthen the capillairies also topical horse chestnut and vit C should help to slow appearance of new broken caps.

Aga,

I had IPL done 6 years ago. The results were lovely. The broken caps. on my cheek area are gone but those around my nose have come back. I had (as I can remember 5 treatments). Wish I went back once a year to keep the results with one treatment. At this point they don't bother me too much. I just use a light concealing in the area. Surely taking good care of your skin helps them from getting worse. I have used JB cream for broken caps. but to be honest I really get lazy and have not been consistant.

Please tell me more about JB Cream, is this the Couperose Cream? I am very interested if this stuff will help. I'm also interested to know if the cream contains any pore clogging ingredients. Since I am on oily side in the areas where I have the caps, I will clog with bad ingredients. Any chance getting an ingredient list or sample? Thanks!

Thanks for the info Winnie!

I got some broken caps around my mouth caused by too harsh acne cream. Sad
Hopefully I can get those removed!

Aga

Surely if you call Janson Beckett they will be able to give you a list of ingredients. I know longer have the cream so can't list them for you.

I've had photofacials...my skin looks much better but unfortunately my treatments ran out...my skin is much much better but i have a couple of small broken caps that i want removed...i saw a couple of dermotologists about IPL, and all of them were strongly against it. They say that it takes too many treatments, and the results take awhile to see. So at this point im alright with getting bruised as long as my skin is completely clear...

Well, I am really desperate to get my skin to what it used to be before I had the facial done.

I know for sure that the facial caused a lot of broken caps, plus other things that were not sutable for my skin.

Is Laser the only thing that helps get rid of them? Is there any other better treatment for it?

And after the laser treatment is done, does your skin actually look worse than before and what is the healing time?
