Hi everyone. I googled online and found this EDS forum and I LOVE the information u gals provided.
I'm a teenagers and I have horrible ingrown hairs. I need help. What should I do?
Do you guys think Vit C serum will help me get rid of these brown spots/scars and are left after ingrown hair?
Also, I recently purchased Jergens Natural Glow. Do you girls think it will help me hide the scars a bit?
I am desperate for ANY kind of advice. I've been hiding my legs for years and I really want to wear skirts/shorts this summer.
Plz help. |

Hi Candice, I've had some trouble with that kind of thing too. I think the best thing for it overall is exfoliation, that seems to be why I get the ingrown hairs in the first place and using exfoliation regularly eventually smoothed everything out for me and the scars faded over time (maybe several months).
Vit C would probably do a lot of good too, but I'm thinking it's pricey for such a big area of skin.
I also used copper peptides on the area (www.skinbio.com) HTH M |

The reason i asked about Vit C is because I saw this recipe for HOME MADE vit c Serum. If it does help ALOT, I will for sure make some.
Btw, I did use tendskin but there are still some ingrown hairs
Do you think I should exfoliate (with loofah??) AND apply tend skin. Then splatter some vit c serum on? |

No Candice don't use a loofah, I found that made things worse for some reason.
Use either a good grainy exfoliator or AHAs like glycolic acid or salycic acid based products. Any old product containing those is good, you're legs are tough they can take it.
I actually used a local teenager's grainy anti-acne scrub on my legs here for some time - worked wonders.
Good idea, go ahead and make your own C, hadn't thought of that.
I tend to use AHAs to exfoliate my legs at night, not that often actually maybe once or twice a week. You'll get quicker results if you do it more often, I'm just lazy. Or after a shower and then the next night I would use the C. I tend to use the copper peptides and/or emu oil after shaving because they're both healing and soothing.
Carekate has some very good suggestions for ingrown hair problems, here's the thread

I'm with Molly on this. A good scrub with AHAs in it, used regularly should give you good results. You can also use a body lotion with AHAs as well - just make sure you don't overdo. My fave body scrub with AHAs is the MD Formulations one - mind you I have not tried many others. I have recently bought a sugar scrub and that leaves my skin *so* smooth - I would recommend this as well. |

Thankyou both very much for your advice. I just have one more question, vitamin E oil or Vitamin C serum can help me get rid of the scars? (They are brown/reddish, and they are flat, not raised or indented)
(I need fast results...)
Thx again =D |

I know Vit E oil will help, but I don't know how fast. C will also help, but these things don't work over night. If you make your own C, I would apply that, wait about 10 mins and then apply the Vit E oil. If you are going to buy a serum, pointed out, that would be very expensive. |

Candice, I don't think all this will work overnight, a few weeks should improve things somewhat. In the meantime once the texture of your skin's improved a bit you can always use fake tan to cover the marks if you fancy getting your legs out. |

I'm not sure if I'm right but it seems like the fastest thing to act would be glycolic peels or microdermabrasion. Perhaps you should ask in a salon and see what they say? |

do you shave in the direction of the hair growth? a lot of women don't think about this but shaving in the opposite direction leaves the hair shaved off in a way that can cause it to grow back into the skin instead of out. Try exfoliating well and then open the pores with hot water and then shave. In the meantime you can even out your leg tone with the tinted moisturizer by DUWOP, called Revolution. Most sunless tanners have DHA in them and many people have reactions to that chemical. |
