I have been using this moisturizer off and on for a couple of years now, and what can I say-- I keep coming back to it! It's definitely one of my favorite products. It's perfect for my sensitive combination skin. It actually does what it claims--
"Calms and protects the sensitive epidermis and is an excellent choice for any skin type. This is an emulsion cream-gel which helps to fight tiredness and lack of resistance due to confrontation with harsh environmental conditions (relative to the skin's defences). Benefits:Strengthen's the skin's natural defences against all exterior elements which are detrimental to the skin's balance
Relaxes, soothes and CALMS THE FEATURES
Allows an immediate sense of well-being, comfort and freshness for the skin." I couldn't say it better so I just quoted! I emphasized the "calms the features," because in the past when my skin looked irritated or had blemishes it had a really soothing and calming effect on my skin. Other great perks are the UV filter and the amazing smell even though technically there's no fragrance, just essential oils. This cream is gentle and amazing. I'll also add that it is perfect to use for traveling on a plane.

Hi July,
I actually don't use this moisturizer anymore, or any Decleor products for that matter. When I found out they were bought by Shiseido, I stopped using them, as Shiseido tests on animals. It's a shame because I really loved that moisturizer. And to answer your question, I didn't find it oily at all. My skin is combination-sensitive. Are you using the emulsion or the cream? The emulsion is supposed to be lighter, but I preferred the discontinued cream. |

July,
Are you referring to the cream or the Essential Balm? Just wondering because from memory I didn't find the cream oily either. What type of skin do you have? I'm sure heaps of people here can suggest alternatives |

I emailed Decleor when I read the post about them being bought by Shiseido and them testing on Aminals as I certainly wouldnt use it if it was true and here is the reply I got..
No, Decléor Aroma-Skincare products are not tested on animals. Instead, Decléor conducts tolerance tests and efficacy tests for each new product. We use two so-called alternative testing methods to check for tolerance: tests on cell cultures and user tests with a panel and precise protocol. These tests are conducted on volunteers by specialised independent laboratories, and the efficacy tests are conducted under medical control.
I hope it isnt true....I'd hate to use anything tested on Animals.... |

Hi Gucci,
Decleor may not test on animals, but the company Shiseido who owns them does. You can do a search on line to verify. The information you received is also on their website and was written before they were bought out. |

Gucci,
Well I am hoping that Shiseido has halted their testing on animals, or will comply in the near future due to public pressure, because Decleor was the first quality skincare line I got into, and I wouldn't mind using a few products again. At one point, I was just using Decleor products solely. I'm actually surprised you got a response from Decleor, even though they cut and pasted. I remember one time I wrote asking a question about one of their products, and I received an auto reply stating that Decleor cannot answer every single e mail due to heavy volumes. Then I wrote to Decleor a while back when I discovered that Shiseido bought them out, and expressed disappointment and stated that I was not going to support them. They never responded back. |

Here's another reply I got from Decleor when I emailed back to them yesterday!!...Could of been a bit more convincing!!!!
Dear Ms Price
Thank you for your e-mail and your keen interest in Decléor.
Decléor is now part of the Shiseido Group. However, Decléor do
not use animals to test their finished products, we use human
cultural cells to test all of the products.
We hope this information puts your mind at rest and thank you
again for your time and interest in Decléor.
Kind Regards |

I'm sorry if this sounds a bit silly, but what do people mean by sensitive skin? Is it for redness and itchiness? |

In my case, the word sensitive means that my skin generally "reacts" to certain products, when other people are unaffected. For example, certain creams, cleansers, serums, even laundry detergents may make me itch or break out in a rash. The Vivier 10% Vitamin C serum I bought eventually started to create little red dots on my face until I slowed down on my usage. Even certain food combinations can give me a red flush. |

I love this cream. I used to have really sensitive skin and if i didn't use a moisturiser my skin would start to prickle and feel really tight. After using this for around a month my skin improved in condition and even if i left in a rush for work and forgot to put on any cream, my face would still feel pretty moisturised and i had no prickling! Smells lovely as well. |

Shiseido tests on animals? It makes me think twice before buying from them again!!!
I once read that L'oreal tests on animals too - does anyone know whether this is true? I remember watching a documentary and it says that L'oreal tests on animals. The images of that poor white bunny being poured some corrosive toner are still very vivid in my head! |

Yes, laylastam, it is a great cream for most skin types, inc combo.
I started using this when it was called Harmonie Essential. It has a very distinctive natural smell of plant and essential oils. I would use it straight after my 15% fruit acids peel and be glowing! Well, that was years ago when Fruit acids were in! Now it's all Glycolic, etc.
It has a very light texture that combo skin would enjoy. |

I used a sample of this the other day and it was nice, and definitely could be used during the day on my combo skin. Dont know if I would actually purchase this one though, I have to many others that I want to get. |
