In fact, I'm so confused by all the info that I've been putting my fingers in my ears and tried to disregard the issue.
But since I use glycolic acid on my face, and summer is here, I just have to find sth. that works. My face reacts to chemical sunscreens, so which physical ones are OK to use? I'm thinking of sth. like spf 30 now. Skin is dry, but I don't like an oily formula.
And what about sunscreens for the body? I like Eucerin, is that a safe brand? Afraid I can't get LRP up here in the north. |

I'm as confused as you! I just use what works for me to be honest, and the Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defense seems to work for me well. I'm sure you'll get heaps of feedback from the more ingredient savvy |

I went with the Avene, this works for me. From what I have gathered Avene, LRP and Biotherma are the best but I can't help thinking that other high street brands such as Pizz Buin, Soltan, Nutrogena, Nivia etc must have some SPF worth or whats the point in selling them???? |

Skinceuticals noted Which one do you have, Mabsy?
For the body, I'll stick to Eucerin since it is oil-free, non-perfumed and non-irritating. I really like the spf20 spray. |

Another confused gal here.
I just stick with what I know doesn't irritate my reactive skin. Clinques Super City Sunblock SPF 25 or Clinques Active White Lab s/s. Both are TiO2 and Zinc. They are stable but dont cover the full UVA spectrum. Oh well. I would like to use a European s/s but can't afford to try the "hit or miss" method. I have tried Bioderma line, but uughh my face turned pink and I got some bumps.

I've got the Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defense. Not sure how it rates on the ingredient content but it works for me and I like it It is a bit thick though out of the tube but it feels ok on the skin - I've had no problems getting used to it but some may be scared off by the texture. I'd also recommend Kosmea Moisturising Lotion SPF30+ if you're looking for a moisturiser with SPF in it. Lovely stuff this - natural ingredients as well (green tea etc). |

You are lucky you are in Europe. Look for formulas that contain Tinosorb and Mexoryl. Tinosorb is stronger. Visit physea.com to order online from France? the LRP sunscreens and the Bioderma line, too. |

I use Sheseido for face 30. I think it is a wonderful sunscreen which sinks in perfectly. I also think it is appropriate for dry skin. |

The Soltan has the photo stable UVA/UVB sunscreens in it - they're listed as the chemical name as opposed to the trade names though (tinosorb etc). Soltan actuallu has one of the highest UVA protection ratings of any sunscreen I've seen. Good value too - I recently bought there Kids SPF60 UVA***** in a two for one deal - £9.99! Nice texture too though I'll stick to my Avene SPF 60 UVA60 for my face!! |

Lucia, I've always understood that Soltan makes some of the most effective and reasonably priced sunscreens, but when I look at the back of the packs I can't find anything recognisable. Now I understand why. You don't know what the generic chemicals are called, do you? thanks, M |
