Hello all,
My mums 50th birthday is coming up and I've decided to invest in some skincare products for her. She's one of those mums who spends her money on the family so has never bought expensive creams or serums etc for herself.
As I said, she's about to be 50, skin is in pretty good condition, a little dull, dry, crows feat around her eyes and a bit of puffiness underneath the eyes. Not sensitive or prone to break outs or anything like that. I'm not looking for a miracle cream but if anyone could recomend some products to help maintain and prevent a bit of aging I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking a c serum, night cream and something for her eyes. Thank you!  |

I'm with you on the C serum. Given that you said her skin is dry I'd say Vivier, JB C&C or CellularSkinRx would be good options. If she has really dry skin around the eye area then Shiseido Benefiance is probably best but I don't think it'll do anything for the puffiness. How about an eye cream with SPF to prevent more lines? Murad Essential-C is a very good one with SPF in it.
As far as night cream goes, I think there are many that would work for her well. My mum uses ADCE with skin prep and that is all she needs. Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream is also a very good option (often compared to Creme de la Mer) for people with dry skin. Contrary to the name, it can be used at night and can also be used as an eye cream.
ETA: I know you didn't ask for this but dullness can also be caused by lack of exfoliation. So I'd suggest a good scrub or a gentle chemical exfoliant (PTR Botanical Buffing Beads, Dermalogica Microfoliant, etc). |

I would go for a C Serum! Where you said you Mothers skin looked dull Dermalogica Microfoliant seems to be a big hit. Before any skin care routine I think it's necessary to exfoliate so the new products work better.
AlphaDerma might be just what your Mom is looking for as everything (SPF) is in one bottle. I suggest if you consider AlphaDerma start your Mother with the sample pack or the 1/2 oz. on JB website. This way she can get a feel for it before investing in full sizes.
