Yes, it is summer again and my face is misbehaving again!
I can't really use any of my moisturizers that I used during the winter or spring, they are just too heavy now. Also going without a moisturizer feels that something is missing. Can anyone tell what your solutions are for hot summer days?
Thanks |

| I like to use a bit of Jojoba oil, try the Dr Hauschka Normalising Day Oil. |

| As much as I didn't want to, I have fallen for La Mer's Oil Control Lotion. |

Rosebud,
I have Dr.H normalizing oil and for some reasons I don't think it helps to control oil.
Charliebaby,
Do you have oily skin or normal? |

| Find the lightest spf 15 you can find, preferably something loaded with antioxidants thus omitting a regular moisturizer. The Paula's Choice sunscreens are very good and loaded with antioxidants as well AND very well priced compared with some others. |

I have combo to oily skin. I also use jan marini's antioxidant sunscreen, which also helps to control the oilies.
I actually haven't found the la mer lotion to do anything breathtaking because of their miracle 'broth', but it is a very good lotion for adding a bit of moisture and controling oilies. You can get real good deals on Ebay. I would never buy it at the counter. I usually get the 1oz jar for $60 or so and the 1.7oz for right around $100 (as compared to $160 retail) |

Super light ones:
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel
LRP Toleriane Fluid
Murad Oil-Free Sunblock (love this! it's slightly tinted and ever so slightly moisturising). |

Cheri, thanks for suggestions. I will definetely check them out.
SusieQ, I already bought sunscreen for the summer and it is w/o moisturizer. I am always indoors and I hate to wear sunscreen unless I spend time outside. None of them feel right on me. Just too greasy.
Mabsy, How do you like LRP Toleriane Fluid?
Can you compare it to herbal recovery gel? |

It's very light but also *very* basic. I'd go for the Jurlique actually. I think the Jurlique might actually be a touch heavier (still, both are very light but relatively to each other the Jurlique feels heavier). My skin responds very well to the Jurlique herbal recovery gel though so I am biased. When you read the reviews on MUA some people say it does nothing to them, some say it gives their skin a healthy glow - I'm in that second camp The Toleriane has a very basic ingredient list and I think would be a good option if you are allergic to a lot of things. I prefer things that have a few more ingredients that have the potential to do something good for my skin (antioxidants etc). However, if you are after something super light and don't care for the extra ingredients then the LRP is the way to go - I don't think I have tried a lighter moisturising lotion as yet! |

Thanks Mabsy,
I do have the Herbal Recovery gel and this is actually what I use at the moment. I don't really see the difference in my skin after I started using it. The only thing that I like about it is that it is light, it has all the good ingredients, and my face feels even a little tight just after application. The thing is that when it is very hot outside even the Jurlique is a bit heavy for me. May be I should skip the moisturizer part and just go the suncreen |

| I've used Dr H's normalizing oil, but I've recently been trying out a sample of their regular day moisturizing cream and it seems even lighter than the oil to me. You might want to give that a try as well! I rather like it . |

Is it lighter than Quince cream?
I think I would need something that absorbs oil because my skin is super oily. I blot almost every two hours |

Over the weekend I tested Lancome Pure Focus Matifying Moisturizing Oil Free Lotion. I have to say I was pretty impressed and bought the full size. I don't like to wear powder, so I'm always looking for something to keep the oilies at bay. I love my european sunscreens, but they do tend to make the oilies even worse, especially during the warmer months. I will use this under my sunscreen.
Here's the description from the Lancome site:
This refreshing, skin-purifying face lotion helps oil and shine disappear for fresh, pure, matte skin. Lightweight formula provides targeted hydration. Exclusive Dermo-Guide System™ with honeycomb-shaped micro-captors absorbs oil deep down in the pores. Zinc Gluconate limits the visible effects of excess sebum while salicylic acid unclogs pores. Skin is transformed, pure and lastingly matte. Pores are tightened and refined. Skin is touchably soft. Use daily on cleansed skin.
I can vouch that it does indeed mattify. Yesterday was the first full day I'd used it and I didn't have to blot all day although my skin might not be as oily as some so mileage may vary. Retail price is $32 for 1.7 Fl. oz (50ml). So if you have a Lancome counter nearby, check it out.

Cheri,
It contains salicylic acid so you do need to use sunscreen on top during the day. You are absolutely right that even the perfect suscreen will give a shiny face. So basically first you apply lotion that absorbs oil and then suscreen that makes your face oily
Was it still working with sunscreen? |
