Can you use soluble aspirin in this recipe?

I had to look up what “soluble” meant because we don’t use that term over here (we call it “uncoated,” meaning it dissolves easily in liquid), but the answer to your question is yes, you can use soluble aspirin to make an aspirin mask.

Just make sure that whatever brand/type you use is 100% aspirin and doesn’t have any other ingredients in it like “acetometaphin” (sp!) and/or “caffeine” or any type of added flavors (I saw one “soluble” aspirin on a UK site that was lemon-flavored – it probably wouldn’t hurt you to have flavored aspirin, but it might cause irritation or something so if you can get unflavored, that would be your best bet) or anything else like that.

I don’t know if your product labels read the same as ours, but the list of ingredients should say something like this:

Active Ingredients:
Aspirin (or salicyic acid) 325 mg.

HTH,
Carrie

hmm In Australia we have coated, uncoated, and soluble aspirin. The uncoated does dissolve easier that the coated. The soluble is a fizzy (and usually lemony flavored) one that is meant to be taken either in water only or dissolved on your tongue (depending on brand - eg. AsproClear vs. Disprin Direct).

Now that I’ve been more fully enlightened (thanks, Mabsy!), I can say that we have “soluable aspirin” over here, too, although they call them “aspirin powders.” Like I said, these can be used for the aspirin mask, but just make sure their aren’t any other ingredients, especially added flavoring which could cause irritation.
