One day I was 4' something, then all of a sudden, over the summer, I grew like 1 feet (this was a few years back). I noticed that I was getting these red lines on my shoulders, and underarms, and then a few months later they turned white.

STRETCH MARKS - I'm 15, why the heck did I get em? I thought only obese people got stretch marks? I'm a dang athlete! Anyhoo, how do I get em off me?

Sharif,

Strivectin-SD is supposed to be good for stretch marks, or so I read anyway Smile I think there have been some mixed reviews of it online. Search through the review forum here and also do a google search for it and see what you can find.

Unfortunately, stretch marks can appear for reasons other than being overweight. At times when rapid growth occurs (pregnancy, weight gain, puberty), sometimes the skin cannot keep up with the body's growth. This tears the elastin fibres, and thus ... lovely red marks, which fade to white:(

You are 15 years old, and experiencing growth spurts - not only in height, but as an athelete, probably in muscle-mass and weight too. To grow an entire foot in one summer is no "small feat", and it's not surprising that you have had these marks occurring. The chest, underarms, hips, thighs, and mid-section are the most common areas where stretch marks occur.

StiVectin was mentioned to you by Mabsy. This is a great product! You also might want to try Decelor Tonilastil Creme or Phytomer Avertaderm for prevention of future stretch marks.

What can you do about "old" stretchmarks. I am 33 years old and I have had stretch marks on the top of my thighs and calfs since I was about 12 years old. Do creams work for this or would I have to get laser treatments?

Stretchmark is cause by many reason, one of them lack of nutrients to the skin. Make sure to take youre vitamins.

is it my imagination or are there 2 spammers here? Mad

with regard to stretchmarks, strivectin MAY work, but you have to apply 3x a day and it costs a lot of money for doing your body. You will probably get more so reduce the likelihood by using a vit E or wheatgerm oil regularly...I would recommend this to any girls before they start their spurts...Mini-me isn't SM free, but she doesn't have loads especially considering the huge gains in height and weight she has made in the last year. It is worth noting that nearly all women have 'em (even models...they just use fake tan to hide them or stay pale. In photo shots they are airbrushed out). They become part of you and you shouldn't be ashamed of them.

Unfortunately, Strivectin can't penetrate deep enough to actually have any effect.

If these marks are still red, ask your doctor about Retin A. It's effective at reducing still reddened stretch marks.

Retin A can help old (white) marks, but it's best to treat them as early as possible.

Not even lasers can erase stretch marks 100%.

I have heard the rosehip oil can help...Personally, I think retin-A and a glycolic body cream have helped mine look much fainter...Idon't think they ever actually "disappear"...they are essentially a small scar....
