Im thinking of trying this as i have heard such great things about it but what is the best make and also which ones are available to UK. Also does any site send out samples or smaller sizes to avoid wasting money on wrong colour.

There are not many minerals make-up companies that operate in the UK. Bare Escentuals is available on QVC.
Jane Iredale is available from:
http://janeiredaleproducts.co.uk/
http://www.aesthetique-online.co.uk/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi
http://www.exclusivecosmetics.co.uk/acatalog/JIPressedPowders.html
http://www.environline.co.uk/
You may also find that some local beauty salons stock Jane Iredale.

There is also a line called Pure Minerals available here. Not sure what they are like though.

There are many other brands in the U.S. that will ship to the UK such as: BareFaced Minerals, Cory Cosmetics, Pure Luxe, Alpha Skincare. There are others out there, far too many for me to remember. Very Happy
A good forum for mineral make-up advice is Mineral Make-up Mania on Delphi Forums.

Picking a mineral make-up brand is very much down to personal choice. Some people like Bare Escentuals with its shiny, pearlescent finish whereas others prefer Jane Iredale as it is more matte (the pressed version is more matte than the loose powder). Other people want to avoid brands like BE and JI because they contain bismuth oxychloride which can irritate the skin. The best way to try mineral make-up is to order samples and see what suits your skin. Smile

FYI - you can order sample sizes of Jane Iredale pressed or loose powder foundations from U.S. sitewww.skin-etc.com, but they do ship internationally. Each sample costs $3.00USD and they charge a flat fee to send them (it’s $5USD for U.S. orders, but I’m not sure about overseas but Lianne could probably answer b/c I know she had them sent her samples to Canada), no matter how samples you decide to order. Skin-Etc is ideal for those who don’t have a JI retailer nearby so aren’t able to test out the colors in person.

If you want to try Bare Escentuals, there’s a great seller (“Birdy2U”) on Ebay who sells both sample and full-sizes of all the Bare Mineral items (foundation, blush, eye shadow) and she’ll ship internationally if you email her with the request. Here’s the link to her Ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/The-Birds-Nest

HTH,
Carrie
