Hello all,

Well I've just been informed that I won't be able to use my trusty GHD straightener while I'm over in the USA for a few months due to the difference in our power supplies Crying or Very sad (Au is 240v and the US is 120v or something like that). Can any of the US ladies recommend a good quality ceramic straightener and hairdryer for me to purchase over there? I'm not too concerned about the price if it does the job!

Personally, I would just buy an adaptor...You can get them in electronic stores. Smile If you are just looking for a reason to shop though Wink , I have the T3 dryer and wet/dry iron. They work great!

I bought adaptors last time I was there but even on top speed my blow dryer was going at about half it's normal pace due to the difference in power. The electricians I work with also told me that the adaptors are ok if your using something a little bit but I straighten my hair a lot and that may cause the straightener to burn out Crying or Very sad (not something I want to risk as they are quite expensive!)

hmm, I didn't know that. I have been using adaptors in Japan for 3 years without problems, but I don't know what the voltage is. You could try the T3 then. Or maybe your brand has American versions of the same ones.

Dunno how you could convert it, mate, other than to buy adapters. These are available at hardware stores.

As far as N.A. flat-iron goes, Chi is the BEST,
but these are VERY expensive!

I say, "Why bother to straighten on your trip?" Wavy, curly hair with body is in style now. Wash, condition, scrunch some shine product & gel through it, and go!

I've used adaptors in the states and have not had any problems. You should not have a problem with any appliance if you're using a good adaptor IMO.

Anyway, I've heard good things about the Chi one. Personally, I'd be going for one of the wet2dry ceramic straighteners. That cuts out the blowdrying step which is great, particularly when you're traveling.
