Hi,

I have now purchased the Dr.H Cleansing Cream after many recommendations by everyone on this forum and hopefully it will do the job.

The next step is buying a mask/peel that is going to unblock my pores and remove all the gunk, my skin isnít sensitive so no masks should effect my skin in a bad way.
Can anyone recommend a mask/peel that I can buy online that is proven? i.e. unblocks my pores leaving my skin feeling smooth and not visibly bumpy. Or am I asking for to much?

Thanks

Hello Willisti

Hope you will enjoy the Dr H CC, it was great for me though I was a bit reluctant to try.

When you are looking for a mask to remove impurities, if you get something that is clay/earth based, it will have a drawing effect on the skin. So it may remove the surface impurities and declog pores, but later you may notice MORE blackheads coming up. (I always get a lot after my first round of masks). But if you continue with such a mask it will continue to draw impurities from deep within the skin. The whole cycle of cleansing may take months, depending on how bad it was before.

I have read many great reviews on aspirin masks, as a cheap and effective alternative for instant purity.

My own recommendation is the Dr H Clay cleansing mask - it uses loess clay (which is much thicker, less refined than kaolin) and washes off much more easily than fine powder clay.

You can always buy your own loose clays mixed with hydrosols, that way you can personalise the mask to suit your skin type.

how do you apply the Dr H CC mask? Do you have to follow a steam treatment using Facial Steam Bath

The Dr H clay mask is a dry powder, so you mix it with either the steam concentrate (a bit wasteful to me) or a hydrosol. And you use a ratio of about 2 parts clay and less than 1 part hydrosol. If you even use slightly a bit more, i find that the consistency just gets ruined - too watery to apply. So you have to add a litttle tiny bit more in again to get it right.

I personally do not use the steam concentrate before the mask, because I always do the mask after a shower when my skin is already soft and clean.

One thing many people say is the clay mask is very drying, but the key is not to let the mask DRY on your skin, so you have to constantly mist it. If you have time, keep re-misting for about 20 mins. If not, then 5=10 mins is ok.

If you allow it to dry, the first time you may find it a bit tight and uncomfortable.

Hi,
If you are thinking a peel, I would be thinking a glycolic or enzyme peel. I think the pumpkim peel from psf Is the best, but I also have the triple threat peel from Emergin C.

But, the pumpkin mask rocks and is my favourite by FAR!!!!
Very Happy

Thanks Melissa, Iím not too sure whether I need to get a mask or peel, basically I need something that is going to unblock my pores and remove all the gunk.

I too would recomend a clay mask such as the Dr Hauschka one or the Dermalogica clay cleanser

I really love Eve Loms Rescue Mask. When it dries you rub it off and it seems to give a bit of exfoliation at the same time. Some people find the smell a bit overpowering but I love it. Ive used a few samples and am going to purchase the full size, but it really seems to clean out my pores.

I will second PSF Pumkin Peel. Gentle but very effective peel that leaves your skin glowing. I am a mask lover and this is a keeper. Very Happy One complaint...because of the smell I want to use it far more then directed. Rolling Eyes

I've become a fan of the aspirin mask I just posted about it in another thread, so forgive me for repeating myself. Aspirin is salicylic acid and, unlike AHAs which exfoliate the surface of the skin, it works *inside* the pores. It also unglues the skin on top of a blemish so that the gunk has an opening to drain through.

Can you buy the aspirin mask online or is this a homemade mask?

This is a homemade mask. I think it is on the first page of the DIY thread. Smile
