I just wonder if Bare Minerals give enough sun protection, and can I trust it to cover evenly and all day? I don't get the point with SPF in makeup if it still means you have to wear a separate SPF. Right now I don't have one (SPF) because it is winter and I am not much outdoors, but I will get the Dermalogica Solar Booster SPF30 for spring if necessary.. What do you think?
I wear the Bare Minerals foundation every day, medium amount of product I'd say. |

I think if your day cream having SPF, you don't have to wear the makeup with SPF. Some foundations have SPF, its SPF works only when people don't wear any protection during the day. Doubel SPF will not give you doubel protection anyway.
The SPF level is depending on your skin type. For example, I really concern the pigments on my face, so doctor advices me to wear SPF 30 at least all year. |

Hi Siri,
I would be inclined to use SPF makeup AND SPF moisturiser. I know that the SPFs don't add up but I do not believe that we are using enough of the SPF product to give adequate coverage in the first place.
I watched an interview with a dermatologist on TV a few months ago who was saying that in order to get the SPF15 effect from an SPF15 misturiser (or just from SPF15 sunblock for that matter) you have to apply about 1 teaspoon of it to your face. I don't know about you guys but there is NO WAY I apply that much to MY face. The guy went on to say that people apply just a tiny bit and think they're safe but in fact they are just marginally better off than not using a sunblock at all.
Now, I don't know if what he was saying was true (get a different derm and it may be a different story) but it seems to make sense.
Sorry I can't answer your original question, I have no idea how thickly you'd have to apply Bare Minerals to get the desired protection.

Thank you
Yes it is a bit tricky.. I guess I'll get the Dermalogica SPF 30 booster anyway, just to be sure. I have finally got the point about sunscreen, I have never actually bought sunscreen other than for holiday/ sun bathing! But it's never too late they say... |
