Ok, I NEVER breakout with acne...But all of a sudden (past four weeks) my skin looks aweful! Checks forehead and chin! About 2 weeks ago I cut my sugar consumption in half (that's when the trouble went form bad to worse), so maybe my body is detoxing...Any tips for recover? I purchased a Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser, with Salicylic Acid and use it as a mask. After that I use the Emergin-C Q10 mask, to help hydrate my skin (I'm also somewhat dry...go figure.) I get a micro-dermabrasion treatment once a month and that actually helps. Wish I could afford to do it twice a month... I'm due on Monday, so I'll be starting with a somewhat clean slate. Anything else I should be doing?
Thanks for any advice,

First of all WELL DONE Good for you on cutting out the sugar.
My guess is that it may have effected your hormones when you went cold turkey on the sugar, it shows how dependent your body was becoming to the sugar.
I would recomend beneficial bacteria to correct any impallences in stomach flora (which sugar creates), Suplements of Zinc, fish oils and B Vitamins to balance your hormones.
I hope you find what works for you and I am sure your skin will clear in no time. |

I think the best thing is to continue a good diet, the hardest part about doing any detox is surviving the purge period..
Also, don't go too hard on your skin. Still use nice and gentle ways to cleanse and moisturise. Make sure you don't dry out your skin too much from spot treatments.
And perhaps some Vit C serum for the scarring after the spots heal (if you do get them and it's within your budget!)

Hi again. I will try the vitamins and see if it helps...I have Emergin C, C serum, but am a little afraid to use it since it tends to make my skin oily. But maybe as a spot treatment it might be worth a shot to help with the healing. Thanks ladies!
