im after some advice/help!

i have a real problem finding the right shade of foundation, i have tried nearly all the big name companies(prescriptives/GA/etc and high street brands) in liquid/powder foundation and have tried loads of minerals (JI/corys/Pureluxe et) and still having no luck with the shade.(im really pale with slight yellow/sallow complexion, all foundations go orange and do not match my skin tone, pick tones do not match)

i have recently tried EL doublewear and the SA mentioned that had i noticed that foundation go orange (change colour) on my skin once applied (yes i had) and she said this is due to the oil in my skin....

is this true???? has anybody else experienced this?

i feel like im going mad looking for a foundation that matches (im 26 and have been looking since i was about 16/17!!) and that i should just give up looking...and then sometimes i think "well the SA matched it and it looked good in the store" and i wear the foundation for a couple of hrs so buy it, but now i have worn it for a couple of days it does not look natural (and i can see the difference between neck and face) and should just "accept it" but i KNOW it does not match or look natural or give enough coverage...

i use decleor skincare range for oily skin so everything is natural

am i the only one?? Sad Sad im feel very down about it

(i know there are more important things in the world, but this just depresses me)

Hi! You're not alone!

I'm VERY yellow/golden and oily and, like you, tried for years to find the right color. They'd be too orange or pink or whatever.

Try Kevyn Aucoin, Mary Kay and Real Cosmetics. Real Cosmetics makes one that's pretty good maybe not great though. Mary Kay does a better job than most in getting the yellow tones although she doesn't have my exact shade. KA is also known for his realistic shades. What about MAC? Good luck!

Mineral make-up foundations and powders did not work for my oily skin either, I ended up looking really shiny all the time.
I don't wear foundation or powder on a day to day basis but when I do I like MAC studio fix powder foundation, goes on really well with the Jane Iredale Handi brush, then a spritz to set.

i just got in a minor accident where i got bruised in a car accident...and i give sympathy towards your difficult task in finding something to suit yellow tones. While I'm porcelain/pink toned, the bruise on my face was healing and turning yellow. Nothing would cover it...no makeup at all. So i had to let it show...

I was looking for foundations a year or so ago and came across bobbi brown. i think her foundations are suited for yellow tones..maybe you can try the site?

You and I are in the same boat. Iam 46yr old combo skin- EVERYTHING goes orange on me. Yes it it due to the oil. I have tried JI (liquid) just sits on skin loose and pressed look terrible. EL also turned orange. I sat at Nordstroms and they tried every foundation on me. The only thing that even came close was Clarins Double Matte #3. It works in the winter when Iam really pale. I go to a skin care center that sells Lycogel they only have 6 colores. Either for Yellow based or Neutral. I found for the sunner the color Honey Y. It is water based gel and a little goes a long way but does not look made up- I got compliments all summer long. The Clarins is my inbetween shade since the winter in Lycogel is Beige Y and still to light. They also carry Glominerals which I might sample the liquid. DO NOT GIVE UP. I also use Yonka LRP and other good skin products. Its funny I was just going to post to see any thoughts about new foundation. Keep me posted by PM if you want

Hi Purple Princess,

Yes I know exactly what you mean!!!!!!!!! Let me tell you a new holy grail for my skin care -Jane Iredale Absence.
It is like a creamy powder consistency, and no it will not clog pores or aggravate acne.
It makes your skin looks a little white then you can use any JI foundation powder.

The warm skilk may be a good color for you. I have a similar skin tone and before Absence it looked too pale on me. Using Absence makes my skin have a dewy, glow, really smooth flawless.
I then spray the Balance mist on top. The Absence will protect the skin from the minerals (some people get irritation from some of the lines)

I love this product and use it with very little make up and still look amazing!!!

Before I did experience color change and my skin would get so oily towards the afternoon. Now I do not have any oily hue or color change right up to the time I wash my face!!!!
This products is a five star for me.!!!

There's a really cheap but excellent foundation that Maybelline makes: Wonder Finish

I use it on almost all models I photograph because the beige tone is just perfect for almost all skin-types...it changes color somehow so it matches almost all colors! It stays matte and looks super-natural, but yet covers. I top it of with the Maybelline shine free loose powder if the model has super-oily skin.

For $7 it's worth a shot! Very Happy

I have long given up on foundation because it turns and travels, etc. I do use MAC studiofix when I feel the need to use anything. Other than that, I just use MACs studio fix concealer.

However, as an aside, I love Cover Girl foundation. It stayed really well for some reason. The only problem is that I am African American and the color choice is limited and not yellow based.

with the foundation changing colour im glad im not alone!! its soo frustrating and makes me self conscious about my skin. ive lost track of what shades ive tried in most of the ranges..

may have another look at MAC, JI absence (sounds quite good) i have tried maybeline and my skin reacted (mousse foundation)
