Anyone know what, if anything, pectin would be good for in skin care?
From the research I've been able to uncover, it seems like a "natural" in terms of Vitamin C ... but I don't know if it can be absorbed by the skin ... or if it should be.
I know there are several pharmaceutical uses for it ... but I thought this could be an interesting "carrier".
I noticed pectin because around here it's "canning season" ... and so I picked up some both in crystal form and in liquid form. The liquid goes onto the skin well ... either evaporates or is absorbed quickly and doesn't leave a residue.
Anyone else think this could be interesting to work with? Carekate?
Mary
Edited to add: I poured a small amount of pectin in a coloured bottle and added l-ascorbic acid ... and it dissolved in minutes! It's amazing ... and this might be ideal for a vitamin C serum. It's light ... and doesn't add oil. Hmmmmmm. |
