I have about £200(ish) to spend on EDS and I would like some top product recommendations. My skin is normal(I think), rarely oily but sometimes dry, it is sensitive from shaving and have some redness on my neck. I get a few spots on my face (rarely breakouts) and they take ages to fade. I have many red marks on my face and I don't think they are spots (maybe irritation?!) I have used lots of products in the past and am afraid that it might have made my skin sensitive (although I don't feel sensitive when I apply products) I also have pock marks/scars mainly on my cheek area and poor areas around my eyes (dark circles etc).
I am thinking of purchasing Valmont renewing pack, PTR Vit K Eye rescue. Any other amazing products?
Also does EDS sell acid type products that I can use? Any suggestions?
Thank you all so much. I enjoy reading all your posts! |

Hi there
I would definitley start with a Vit C serum...like Vivier 10. I am not sure what kind of spots you are talking about, but Vit C will help to even your skin tone and will provide anti-oxidant protection to help fight against free-radicals and aging.
The Valmont renewing pack is great! I have only used some samples though, but loved it! For an acid (AHA/BHA) product, maybe try the Bioelements Quick Refiner. I haven't tried this yet, but it is next on my list!! It has a number of acids in it, and looks like it would be a great exfoliant. This would also help to fade any redness from previous breakouts. As always though, make sure you are using good UV protection...especially with any sort of AHAs/BHAs. |

Yay! Let's have some fun!
I agree with the vitamin C recommendation - particularly the Vivier brand because it seems gentler and also does not leave a tight feeling. I would also recommend Dermalogica Microfoliant - when I use this and a vitamin C serum those red marks seem to fade much faster.
I love the Renewing Pack, but also like the Dr Hauschka Rejuvenating Mask. Talking about Dr Hauschka, if you don't mind fiddly skincare then their Cleansing Cream is fantastic at cleaning out the pores and giving a glow to the skin.
A note about PTR Power K Eye Rescue though - this cream did wonders for my dark circles, *however* I do not find this to be moisturising enough. If you don't have dark circles then I would suggest you get something else, if you do have very dark circles then be prepared to use an additional eye cream over this. Cellcosmet makes my favorite eye cream but I also really love the Babor Sensational Eyes eye cream and currently the Thalgo Revitalising Eye Cream (although I'm still in the "testing phase" of this).
Let's see.... what else.... The vitamin C serum and the Microfoliant should help with evening out the skin tone and fading some of the marks/scars. I would suggest that you get a product with glycolic acid as well to use intermittently to help exfoliate the skin. MD Formulations makes good glycolic products but I have also read many good reviews about the Bioelements Quick Refiner that Faith suggested to you.
Hope that helps a bit. I'm at work right now (shhhh!) and I'm trying hard to think back to what's on my shelf at home... I'll post back if I have any epiphanies....
ps. You also need sunblock!
ps2. And also make sure that you think ahead when you place an order at EDS - have a look at some of the reviews and identify the products that you'd like to try in the future and ask for samples of those with your order |

Thanks Faith and Mabsy!! I only have the internet at work so it passes my day quickly reading all this stuff - I know what you mean.
I bought the Dr H Cleansing Cream the other day and it really is amazing! I think as I don't have a toner I will try the Dr H Toner (which one normal or clarifying?) Why is it fiddly? I don't bother to use it the way suggested cos I have no idea what it means. I just use it as a normal face wash. Bad idea?
I do have quite bad dark circles so I think I will buy PTR Vit K and I have a more moisturizing eye cream still left which I guess I can put over the top.
I do really want to try out the Renewing Pack and am very excited. Do you use a thin layer or quite liberal when using as a mask?
With regards to the Bioelements Quick refiner...this is a leave on product. Is it okay to go out in the sun with those acids on your face? I would be kinda scared. The MD range seems overwhelming! Any particular suggestions? I would prefer an AHA/BHA mask that I can leave on and wash off but I don't think I am ready to try full on peels [eg Platinum skincare] (they scare me!)
Also what sunscreen would you recommend for the face? I use Avene creams at the moment which have 10/15SPF in them but what sunscreen is best to use when I am not using those creams? |

Not to worry - you will be able to find most of those products (well, maybe except the Valmont and Cellcosmet) in the UK, they'll just cost you more... |

Don't tempt me - I can send you broke!
Ok, just a few more: If you ever do get breakouts then it's good to have the YonKa Juvenil on hand. If you ever ger iritation from shaving or products or you get rashes then Decleor Harmonie Essentielle is good to have on hand. Peter Thomas Roth makes a very gentle scrub called Botanical Buffing Beads - good gentle alternative for exfoliation. If you feel that your pores are a bit congested then Decleor Essential Balm might be good to look into.... etc etc
*However*, given what your needs are, I think a vitamin C serum (pick the right one for your skin type!) and Microfoliant and a good eye cream are what you're after mostly. There's also that issue of sun protection...
Btw, sorry, just noticed your earlier post/question. Dr Hauschka CC is fiddly because it needs to be used in a pressing/rolling/kneading motion and this ideally should be done for a while and twice a day. The results are great though! I think I would go for the standard Dr H toner if you have sensitive skin - clarifying might give you better results though in terms of how your skin looks but there is a higher chance that your skin will feel dry I guess. I use the Valmont Renewing Pack as a thin layer (it's too $$$ and a thin layer works ) and sometimes leave it overnight. The QuickRefiner is a leave-on product and you should be aiming to use this at night, not right before sun exposure. In terms of masks, I haven't used many AHA/BHA masks but I have the MD Formulations one (Vit-a-Plus Clearing Mask) and it's effective (but not a luxurious product - it's simple and lime-green). I think it's 5%AHA and 5%BHA - I don't think you _need_ the 5%BHA though given that you rarely break out.
Either way you should still be using sun protection (I live in Australia so I have very strong views on this ). |

Thanks Mabs.
Hmmmmm you wouldn't have to tempt me far to spend all my money on skincare. Arghhh I have to control. Exert control. I have decided I am going to only add few products at a time to my collection. Not only is it better for my wallet, but also better for my skin that I know what the products actually do instead of chucking them all on my face at once etc.
Reasoning will win over.... |

I would definitely second Mabsy's suggestion of the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. It has a cult following on this site and I finally broke down & bought some this week. (Waited so long because I was worried that it might not suit my sensitive skin.)
It is indeed amazing. I have the same problem that you do with the red marks and it already seems to be helping to lighten those.
Have fun shopping!!!!!!!!!! |

I'm not sure that I'm going to be much help, as mine is fairly mild & only comes on when I go too overboard with my selection of products.
What I've found that works for me is using a combination of two cleansers: Phytomer Velvet Cleansing Cream in the morning & Yonka Gel Netoyyant in the evening. Neither leave my skin too stripped, which seems to be the key for me. I use a Vitamin C serum (currently using SkinCeuticals, but will swap for PSF when I'm done), as well as a moisturizer that a facialist recommended for me: Glyderm Plus Cell Science Skin Repair. Add the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant to the mix, and my skin is very happy!!!
Sorry if that was too much info, but I hope it helps. Wishing you the best of luck finding great products for your skin, and definitely listen to the suggestions from some of the more senior members. I swear they know more than most dermatologists & aestheticians! |
