I actually eyed these products on the Bliss web page a while ago when Thoughtcrime sent me a coupon code from the Bliss catalogue but I didn't end up getting it (mainly because I haven't heard about it and didn't think I needed it). I just noticed them on EDS the other day and I'm again considering trying this because there's been so much talk here about peels and their benefits. The question is, is this really a peel? It seems to be more of a AHA/BHA treatment (especially since it looks like you actually leave this on).

Quote:
The revolutionary product that made Dr. Gross famous, this two-step, at home peel in ready-to-use pads delivers both immediate and long-term benefits. The patend-pending system provides a precise blend of alpha and beta hydroxy acids to improve skin tone, texture, and clarity, plus moisturizers, green tea extract, and antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E to leave skin soothed, balanced, and protected.

Has anybody used this? I've only been able to find a handful of reviews online and, while they've been positive, I'd like to hear more before I decide... Who is the supposedly famous, and unfortunately named, Dr Gross?

ps. O/T, there's apparently a urologist in Brisbane called "Dr Tinkle".... and there's also a GP called Dr Death (well, slightly different spelling but pronounced like "death").

Hi Mabsy,

I used these for a few months before I started doing "real" peels. This isn't a peel. Kind of like a 2 step toner, IMO. It does leave your skin with a nice glow, but nothing that can't be achieved with the PSF Pumpkin Peel, or any other numerous peel products. I used to love these, before I tried better things, but now, I wouldn't re-purchase. HTH Smile

I have just ordered these - but it is not too late to cancel and I may do so. They were recommended to me when I did a skin analysis at Skinterra. I wanted to use the IS Clinical line and the Skinterra people said that using these face peels would make all the products work better. I was hesitant because they seem rather expensive for daily use. Question is:

Faith - what have you used that you think is better than these???

Thanks Faith Smile I'm still tempted 'coz you said that you liked these - I haven't done any real peels yet and I probably won't for a while....

hi Lela and Mabsy,

These are a good exfoliant, and they are pretty non-irritating in my opinion. Lela, they will help your skin to take your other products better, but that is because they are exfoliating. Many things could help with that. After I used these I tried one pack of the Avon ones, and they are much cheaper ($8 on ebay). Same effect... Something to consider. The ingredients don't look quite as good, but they did the same thing for me. It got to the point for me, that after the first step, I would wait 20 or 30 minutes before neutralizing. It just wasn't strong enough anymore. Mabsy, I think as a first step before peels, you will like these, and I am sure you will see some results; in the short term anyway. Smile

Lela, as for what I use now...I use the PSF pumpkin peel quite a bit. And I do regular 30-40% glycolic peels. As well, 10% glycolic toner every few days and the aspirin mask. I find all of these things impart a similar *glow* and keep my skin clear. HTH Smile

Hello Ladies:

Okay, excuse my ignorance...but the PSF pumpkin peel...where is it from/do I get it? And the aspirin mask, it is home made, correct? I checked out the Avon daily peel pads on ebay...I think I may try them. Way more reasonable!!! I will let you know what I think...Thanks for the advice Faith!!! You are all so marvelous on this fourm!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Faith - onto the list they go (again)! Smile

Lela - the aspirin mask is a DYI recipe (which you will find info about on the DIY thread). PSF is PSF Skincare psfskincare.com Smile

I have never tried this one. I use the MDF glycolic cleanser often though; it is 12% I think, with a pH of 3.8. I suppose if I left it on my face for a while it might have a stronger effect, but from my experience, it would not be like the MD Skincare pads... The pads contain some other exfoliants as well and give more of a glow than a AHA cleanser.

Sorry, I haven't tried this either...

ETA: My guess would be that a leave-on product would be more effective than a cleanser that you wash off.

Thanks Faith and Mabsy - for your expertise!

Can you get the PSF Pumpkin Peel from anywhere besides pskskincare.com. Shipping to Canada is expensive...

I am trying the aspirin mask now... Very Happy

As far as I know that's the only place. I'm waiting for them to hopefully have some sort of a sale (they did one ages ago when shipping was free, or something similar) so I can try some of their new stuff Embarassed
