Hi guys...great site you have here
RE vitamin c serums, is a tingle mandatory to know it's working? I made my own following Carekate's method but didn't feel anything to let me know that it's working.
TIA! |

No, even without any tingling, it should still be working. |

Vitamin C serum, when stable and at least 10% concentration, l-ascorbic acid type, will provide excellent free radical protection for your skin. Free radicals are unstable Oxygen molecules that are formed when your skin is exposed to UV light, smoke, pollution and stress. The free radicals stabilize themselves by hooking up with the giant collagen molecule in your skin. This ages you because the free radicals damage your collagen layer when they do this. The layer becomes less elastic, brittle, thinner over time. This translates into crepey, saggy skin.
C also prevents hyperpigmentation (age spots, melasma) by limiting melanoctye production, thus the nice evening out in skintone after a few weeks of using it.
It has also been shown to normalize oil production somewhat and its slight exfoliating properties can make your face have a nice "glow"y look.
We are the only mammals on earth that do not produce our own vitamin C so must supplement through food, vitamins. C is necessary for collagen production, stimulates collagen synthesis thus firming the skin over time.
Overall: better textured, even-toned, firmer, brighter, well-protected skin is what you get from using vitamin C serum.
The most popular brands here are Vivier, PSF, JB C&C, skinceuticals, and Cellular Skin Rx. I am a Cellular Skin Rx user. I highly recommend that EVERYONE use a C serum on a regular basis. I've never seen a product that did so much so quickly - maybe sunscreen? |

Thanks for the info. So it sounds like it will protect from aging, but what if you already have the creapy skin and lost alot of collegen will it help repair or just maintain where you are currently at? |

You will definitely see an improvement in your skin. I would also recommend starting to use a retinoid (Retin-A, Retin A Micro, Renova)and of course, daily sunscreen. All three of these products have been clinically shown to improve sun-damaged skin significantly. |
