Hey Girls,
The only moisturizer I use is in the morning and it's the Cetaphil SPF/Moisturizer combo. I have acne prone skin and in the past when I put moisturizer on at night I would wake up with a few extra zits. I'm deathly afraid of investing in a moisturizer that would break me out. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Anna |

Hi hayleighs_mom
I'm no expert when it comes to skin care, but after a lot of browsing of this forum and the Dr H webpage I have learnt that you shouldn't use a moisturiser and night as that is when the skin excretes a lot of the bad stuff and breathes. Moisturiser just inhibits that.
So you are doing the right thing!
I'm sure you'll get feedback from others who are more in the know than I am. |

| Unless your skin is dry, there is no need to use a night-time moisturizer. Your skin has a natural protective mantle and produces sebum and oil on its own to lubricate itself. If you use harsh cleansers/toners, you may find that you end up with worse acne/zit problems as your skin overproduces oil and sebum (to make up for the stripping it has endured)and pores become clogged. |

I think it largely depends on your skin. These days I personally use ylang-ylang oil or jojoba or a teeny bit of olive oil only (I can't go without some kind of moisturiser altogether) and when my skin feels dry or dehydrated I use Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream. Read on these boards you will find ideas from other people. HTH! |

| I have dry skin, and I actually find my skin is better if I skip the nighttime moisturizer. Somehow it seems to be better able to take care of itself. |
