Is it a good thing to pop a pimple? esp a large white head? Or is it better to just let it dry out on its own?

I find that either way, I end up with a scar, so that's not really an issue. But I feel that by popping a pimple, I'm allowing it to drain sooner...

A lot of people say that it's really bad to pop a pimple because it will leave a scar, but if I have a large white head, I can't resist popping it!

i think it depends on the size and what kind of pimple it is... if its a large pimple like a cyst or nodule than its probably better off not popping since you could scar.. but i have been popping little ones for years and i havent really got a scar.. most of the pimples i get are blackheads, whiteheads, and small bumps filled with pus.. so if i dont pop them.. theres no way they will go away.

Its so hard to resist popping a blemish, isn't it? I find that I scar more if I do that though. There is an instrument from Tweezerman that is meant to help you pop "safely", but I've never had a lot of success with it. If you cannot resist, I suggest you sterilize the area with a little alcohol then apply topical antibiotic after you pop.

There are products that may help bring the pore gunk to the surface faster so that you don't resort to popping. These have helped me: aspirin mask (salicylic acid infusion that cleans inside the pore), Dermalogica Microfoliant (to unglue the skin on top of the pore and provide an exit for the trapped gunk), and Decleor Essential Balm (acts as a salve that draws out the gunk, especially helpful at TTOM). HTH

I'm a sinner Anxious
I just can't help it!
Pimple shows up the first day.. I look at it for a few minutes and admire my willpower for not popping it immediately. But it soon develops a life of its own and I end up staring at it every time I go near a mirror.

Sometimes I manage to go for a whole day... sometimes a day and a half but we all know how it ends......

This is one of the major reasons why I am eager for carekate to send me some Vit C so I can vitaminise away my pimple scars (which are not really so bad.. but still!).

well they say you shouldn't because the goo will spread to the surrounding skin/get on your fingers and infect it or worse if it isn't extracted the pressure of you pressing on it will force the infection deeper in to the skin.

Well we know we shouldn't since it's hard to cover up a scab Laughing and may scar but if it gets a head I have to pop making sure I wash my hands and wash the area after & apply a topical treatment something like murad blemish gel.
