It's the time of year when our office switch on the aircon/heating - and it's dreadful! We can't open the windows (for security reasons) and so we are currently sat in a dry warm, stuffy atmosphere. It ranges from being so cold in here you have to wear your coat, to so warm you want to get outside NOW! Both situations have a bad effect on my skin every autumn/winter! I've tried the spritz thing and drinking as much water as I can (any more and my teeth will float) but work seem hell bent on having us all dehydrated!
It doesn't matter what I out on my face in the morning, by lunch I feel dry and tight (my skin is normal/combination - the T zone gets oilier int his environment). I don't want to have to reapply moisturiser during the day (then have to do my spf/makeup all over again) and I dont' want to not wear makeup!

Any ideas what I can do,(apart from change jobs! Laughing ) product recommendations etc? We've moaned about it but as the environment falls within 'guidelines' we're a bit stuffed really!
By the time I go hometime comes I feel like the incredible flaking woman and have a headache - nightmare! Sad
I don't get this when I'm at home and I flit between a heated house and being out in all weathers with my horses - it's only work! To give you an idea we did an experiment - we left a glass of water full on one of the desks and in 2 days it had evaporated down by two thirds! It is REALLY dry in here!

Thanks!

I think Central Heating must be one of the perks of living in the UK Rolling Eyes
I go round the house with small bowls of water and place them next to the radiators, you could try this if they will let you, also plants help a little and Aspidestras (think I spelt that one right) survive almost anything.
Try a spritz with Bach Flower remedies added, Neal's Yard do these or make up your own and just add a few drops of Bach Flower Remedies.
I wish I could offer more suggestions.

Thanks Rosebud!

Nope - not allowed too leave bowls out - 'health & safety' apparently!? Confused There's not radiators as such - the heated air gets blown through floor vents - also as an extra 'benefit' it circulates all the cold/cough germs around too!
we have some sad looking plants (only 'official' plants allowed!)Think willtry the Bach remedies in a spritz - I have a friend qualified in the remedies - I'll se what she suggests!

Thanks! Very Happy

What about plugging in a humidifier in your office? I usually do that here in the winter and it helps tremendously.

I know you're not keen on reapplying moisturizer during the day, but that was the recommendation that I received from my esthetician, whose spa is in the same building as my office - an old converted mill. Eeh gads is it painfully dry! And yes, the colds and flus do circulate like clockwork. A dab of my moisurizer mixed with a dab of Vitamin E cream (for whatever reason) seems to help.

I would also note that I just started wearing a creamy foundation (MAC) on a daily basis and this really seems to block out the dry air. My skin is still somewhat dewy when I get home.

I have the same problem with extremely dry air in the office. I can't use anything too emollient coz I'm prone to breakouts, so I'm now thinking of bringing a humidifier in.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
I'm going to try the Bach spritz and also have got some MD Forte anti oxident spray which is like a very light moisturiser in a mist form.
I can't bring in anything electrical and anythign too emollient (like a creamy foundation) just melts off or makes me break out. So we'll see how that works. In the meantime I'm just moaning a lot to the health and safety rep and hoping he'll give in and do something!!! Laughing
