hi!

I've tired La Roche Posay Activ C... and I have also tried to make my own with Vitamin C crystals and PG...

I found the LRP not potent enough and the PG being too "greasy" or slippery to my taste...

I'm looking for a reasonably priced Vitamin C serum... (being an Architecture student having to spend $30 every week JUST on paper... I don't have much $$ left for the goodies) or an improved homemade Vitamin C serum recipe...

or any other effective alternatives to fade tedious acne scars!

thanks so much guys!

help out the poor student here!

Hi April

I really liked Skinceuticals C serums, I tried the 20 and CE Ferrulic. Maybe younger people can just start on 10% for scars.

I am not sure how much SC is in HK, if you are buying from there. If you are ordering in the Americas, it is usually quite cheap - can find ones for $50USD for a 10%.

I would also recommend exfoliating more often.. use something with very fine texture like Epidermx (perhaps Dermalogical microexfoliant is similar?)

PSF skincare makes a C serum for $38. Very reasonable and very nice texture. Smile

Of the textures, I would say that the Cellex-C and Skinceuticals have the "like water" texture, rather than other serums that do have verying degrees of the slip you're referring to.

$30 on paper! Wow!

PG is a penetration enhancer and a humectant, which would explain the extra "slip". I think it also acts as a preservative at higher concentrations. How about dissolving your Vit C crystals/powder with just water? You will have to make a fresh batch more frequently though.

The cheap but very effective DIY aspirin mask helped fade my acne marks, along with other exfoliating products.

Also, how about using less paper! Laughing

Another really nice Vit-C serum that is reasonably priced is by CSRx. I think it’s $35 for a full-size bottle. I’m very oily-skinned, but I found that the CSRx serum penetrated well and didn’t contribute to the feeling of excessive greasiness on my face....

Have you tried the homemade aspirin mask yet? Or, better yet, my DHSBSSFM recipe, which is an alternative of the basic aspirin mask recipe, on page 14 of the DIY thread? Both will really help fade red marks from previous breakouts, though I admit I’m partial to the DHSSSBFM at the moment!!
