Hello.
I really don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I just found this via a search. If anyone knows a better place to ask please let me know. I apologize in advance for any wrong thing I do.
But anyways on with my question. I really need help.
First of all, the skin around my nose (to the left and right side of it) is always red. It is NOT acne there, it's just red and a bit bumpy. I really don't know what to put on it, I've tried a few things but nothing really works. It's like really red right after I wash my face, but it sorta blends in with the rest of the face (not completely though) in like 10 minutes, but it's still visible and it really bothers me.
2nd, I don't really have ance all over my face or anything, but the area around my chin is always red (compared to the rest of the face) and sometimes I get these really weird things there, like pimples but the stuff is under the skin. It's really bad and these take a LONG time to go away. Putting any medication on it doesn't really help..
However, I always take care of my skin well, I tone at least twice a day and wash it with a cleanser at least once a day. I eat well and am fit (run a few times a week). And during the last couple months I drink lots of water (3+ glasses a day) cause I heard it helps.
So yeah that's basically it, I will go to a derm if I can't get this fixed, but I'd really appreciate if any of you could help put me on the right track as to what products to try to get rid of the redness and the weird pimple type thing.
Thanks a lot in advance, and I'd like to again apologize for any inconvenience my out of place post has caused.
Have a nice day.
Edit: I forgot to add that, in general my skin is normal/dry, however around my nose it's ALWAYS oily. Like, I will tone it and 5 minutes it's oily.
Thanks again. |

Please see my post under creme de la mer.
I have problem skin also. I suggest this cream not for it's "miracle" claims. I find this cream moisturizes my very very dry patches while controlling oil all over my face. I also have a very red t-zone and this cream completely evens out my skin tone.
If you go to a cosmetic counter they will give you a sample to take home. My sample lasted for 2 weeks and I saw immediate results.
It is worth every penny. |

Hi VTBoy,
Welcome to the best skin care forum! You asked for opinions.... so here is mine. I would email the spa directly and ask specific questions. Give them your details, oil here, dry there, your age, acne periods, etc. You can also feel more comfortable giving more personal info. They will email back recommendations. This is where the forum comes in. Take each suggestion and read the "product reviews". (There is a search function). I can tell you all about the products I use and for me they are wonderful. Two points, one~I didn't start out with them, I tried several recommendations and two~you may use a cleanser from one line and moisturizer from another. EDS (Essential Day Spa) has many redeeming qualities, one is with your order they will send samples of other products for you to try. So to sum it up, you found the right spot to help but did the 2nd step 1st. We all have had a skin problem, that is how we ended up here, and I can honestly say EDS has many, many satisfied customers. FYI.... I have used crème de la mer. I rated a 5 out of 10 for me, it is expensive (and I don't have a limit I spend on my products) and I have found other products that have worked so much better for less (not a lot less, but less.)
Good luck and let us know how you make out.
Babs

i sometimes get spots similar to the ones you describe. In my experience even though medication seems not to work, it does, you should get some cream that can be directly applied to the area, and keep it with you, apply it several times a day. it should go red and start to peel away and then in a few days disappear, its defiently faster than when i just left them. |

just like Oxy on the spot or something, I live in britain so we might have different makes. but i'm talking about the regular little toothpaste type tubes you buy in drugstores for about £3, nothing fancy. |

It sounds like you have congested, combination skin. I recommend using an exfoliant such as Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant. (Use this after your cleanser.) When the skin has dead cells clinging to it, these create a barrier - preventing your moisturizer from working properly, and trapping oil, dirt, etc. underneath! Use a gentle, balancing cleanser such as Dermalogica's Special Cleansing Gel. Their Active Moist moisturizer, mixed with a bit of the new Hydrating Booster. This will alleviate the tighteness (dehydration) that you're experiencing in the cheek area. I suspect that the cleanser that you have been using (and perhaps other products too) are too astringent for your skin. When you take away the natural oils that your skin needs, your skin will compensate for this loss by actually FLOODING the surface with more oil. Use the cleanser that I suggested, and if oil continues to be a problem, spot-treat the area with Decleor's T-Zone Regulating Gel. |
