Greetings!
I have a medium/heavy beard, and I have started to experience what I believe is folliculitis in the beard area. It's kind of surprising, as I have straight hair, and it's my understanding that this problem usually affects people with hair that curls.
The problem seems to be affecting me more in the neck area. There are bumps, which sometimes develop into whiteheads.
I use a Neutrogena Razor Defense shaving gel, and I use a Gillette Sensor Excel razor. I cleanse with a Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash (2% Salicylic Acid), and I apply Neutrogena Oil-Free Light Moisturizer with 15 SPF right after shaving and cleansing.
If you could give me some ideas that may help to alleviate this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
Best regards,

I'm so glad you asked this question! I have this same problem on my legs, so I'm anxious to hear any suggestions as well. |

I think you might want to add a toner or an after-shave tonic after washing but before moisturizing.
Many of the folks here have recommended a product called Tend Skin. Check out http://www.tendskin.com.
Good Luck! |

One of the best things to do is to make sure that you regularly exfoliate. This keeps the dead skin cells and also oils/sebum from clogging up your skin and ensures that the hairs are not "encouraged" to curl under. TendSkin is a very good product to try in my opinion (it essentially is an exfoliator). I used to use it on my armpits and bikini line to prevent the ingrown hairs after waxing. |

I have the same problem. The best combination i have found is using
Paula's Choice Skin Releif Treatment with
Paula's Choice 1% Beta Hydroxy Solution
This has produced miracles with the burn, bumps and ingrown hairs.
