I recently came across a photograph of myself a couple of years ago. My skin on it didn't look too bad, definitely no worse than it does now and at that point I wasn't spending so much on products so it got me thinking if I really do need to spend as much as I do. Anyway I decided I would try and economise a bit to see if it makes a difference and I've replaced a few products with less expensive versions. Does anyone have any 'copy cat' products they would recommend? I'd really like to find a copy of Dermalogica's Microfoliant. The ones I've currently replaced are:
Dr H CC - I remembered a Lush product called angels on bare skin which was also made of almonds so I decided to give this a go, I've used the Dr H roll and press method instead of using it as a scrub and the results are pretty good for the price.
Decleor Ylang Ylang oil- I had a sample of Clarins Lotus oil and it seems to be just as good as the Decleor product and it works out a lot cheaper you get 40ml for £26.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - Superdrug do a version of this and it's really cheap (less than £4 I think) and it's near enough identical to the Clarins version. |

Superdrug here I come!!!
The only one I can think of off the top of my head is:
*Dr Hauschka Normalising Day Oil - I know the scent is completly different but Jojoba Oil performs the job just as well.
oh yes and
*Dermalogica Multi Vitamin Power Recovery Mask - Boots Botanics Vitamin Recovery Mask, just as good and only about £4 |

You know there’s recipes posted in the “~~~ DIY Skincare Recipes ~~~” sticky thread for homemade versions of DHCC and Decleor Ylang Ylang Oil, right? If you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, you can buy a ready-made bottle of Decleor’s Y-Y oil from me – I guarantee *my* price is significantly less then £26!!
As for a copy of Dermalogica’s Microfoliant, it’s basically just a rice-based enzyme. I know we’ve kicked around the idea of either grinding our own rice or buying some time of rice flour or “meal” to make a homemade version, but I never bothered persuing it because – although I liked the Microfoliant well enough – I’ve since moved on to my homemade AHA/BHA scrub that has become my holy grail exfoliant which I use every morning (for those who care, I’m specifically referring to DHSBSSFM). However, if there is a real interest in coming up with a homemade version of Dermalogica’s prized product from enough people, I’ll volunteer to experiment until we come up with a good basic recipe so just let me know.... |
