I am near the end of my DHC cleansing oil and thought I'd order a cleansing oil from EDS since I am getting an order ready.
What are some good ones that EDS sells? I have heard mention of Babor and Decleor; are there any others that I should investigate? I use the cleansing oil first to remove my mineral makeup and then follow with a gentle foaming cleanser.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

I actually prefer the DHC cleansing oil over the Decleor version. I know it’s just my imagination, but to me, it feels like there’s a film left on my skin when I rinse off the Decleor cleansing oil....
Also, is there a specific reason that you use another foaming cleanser *after* you use your cleansing oil, or do you only do it because you think that there’s no way the cleansing oil is really getting your face clean and removing all traces of dirt and oil?
I know it’s hard to except based on everything we’re taught growing up (oil is bad, must not let face get only!), but there’s really no need for a 2nd cleansing after you remove the cleansing oil – I mean, have you heard of the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM)?? In fact, it might actually be detremental because you could be over-stripping your skin of it’s natural oils thereby upsetting the balance of your natural sebum glands!
I apologize if I’m soundy preachy – it’s not my intent, but it took me a while to accept the notion that oil could cleanse my face *and* help regulate my hyper-oily skin, too. If nothing else, using only one type of cleanser – be it a cleansing oil or a foaming version, is cheaper on the pocket-book which leaves more money to spend on other wonderful skincare or cosmetic stuff to play with!
But, back to your question: the Decleor CO is very good, but if you’re already paranoid about any residue left from your DHC cleansing oil, the feeling could very well become more intense if you react the way I do and feel there’s still a film. I can’t tell by your member profile where you’re located, but if you’re in the U.S., try and stop by a local Sephora store and get them to give you a sample of the Decleor to test drive before you commit.... |

| I ordered Shu Uemura cleansing oil...it came today...finally! So I will do a review on it probably tomorrow...it has been around since 1960 and is a big seller for them. It was recommended to me so I'm excited to try it. I have never used an oil to clean my face so the whole think is new to me. |

Thanks for your review, CareKate. I had been wanting to switch to a cleansing oil only for winter time, and I do not like any residue, so the Decleor is out for me
I guess there are a few reasons why I follow with another cleanser. Like you said, it is difficult to think that oil alone (even though the DHC cleansing oil has more than oil) can efficiently cleanse the skin. I have very acne/clogged pore prone skin, so I am paranoid about removing every trace of makeup. I figured that the oil would remove the makeup and allow the cleanser (which has BHA) to do its job better by actually cleansing the skin/pores. However, I am noticing what you said: that my skin is overcompensating because it is being stripped. My skin has gotten flaky dry, but oily and clogged, too.
In light of my recent skin problems, I intended to get just a cleansing oil to use, but I may give the OCM a try because I do have a variety of oils and essential oils on hand that I use to make body balms and butters. It would certainly leave more money available to buy the more fun stuff
Part of me also just gets wrapped up in wanting to purchase something new I have so much skincare already that I shouldn't need to buy any more for at least 6-8 months. It is so hard for me to resist buying though
Thanks, again!

I have been using the ocm method for about two weeks now. At first I wasn't using a cleanser after, and my skin was breaking out a little. But my breakouts were coming from milia that was surfacing after literally YEARS of being just bumps on my skin. I always just thought that this was part of my skin but I guess not. I got a little paraniod about the new breakouts even though I knew this was a good thing, so I started to use a foaming cleanser after, followed by Olive oil and ylang ylang for moisturizing. My skin is the smoothest that it has ever been. Its only been a couple of weeks, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I guess maybe because I put oil on after everything that it isn't stripping my skin I am not sure but I do know that acne is caused from bacteria this is why I wash my face with an anti bacterial face wash. Maybe if I added a oil that was anti bacterial, I wouldn't wash my face after. But either way it works wonders for me! |

| Some people experience a 'detox' period adjusting to OCM. My guess if this is correct is that the breakout was coming to the surface of the skin anyway and that OCM brought it out faster. If you stick it out you may like it! |
