Hey guys, how are you all?
Can anyone type out for me the best facial exercises to narrow a widening nose and something to help lift the bridge (due to aging).
Here are some exercises from karmiarchitect (thanks!)
Gently pinch your nose with your thumb on one nostril and your index finger on the other. Press only enough to give some resistance -- do not completely flatten your nostrils. Flare your nostrils against your finger/thumb. Repeat ad nauseum.
---------
The author of this exercise states that there may be more sophisticated nose exercises out there, but this is the one she's been doing since adolescence, and it has worked really well for her.
-----------
Can anyone suggest any more books and videos?
The two top Facial Exercise programs (Facercise by Carole Maggio and Flex Effect by Deborah Crowley) do not contain any exercises to help slim and lift the nose.
---------
Any more exercises to help slim my nose and help lift the bridge?
Thanks! |

Hi,
I never heard of exercises to slim your nose, but on the Today show recently I saw a non-surgical nose job done.
If you've been doing it since adolescence, how do you know your nose wouldn't havenaturally been the size it is? Or has it actually gotten smaller since then? And not to be facetious but if the exercise has worked well, why do you need others? Lastly, how long does it take to work?

It was a quote from me -- I'm the one who has been doing it since adolescence. My nose changed shape after doing the exercises for about 3-4 months. My nose looked exactly like my mom's did when she was my age -- a particularly round/pug Asian nose. Since that nose runs in the family (hell, it runs in the ethnicity), and my nose looks very disimilar, and unlike anyone's in the family, I think it works. My mom comments on it, other people have commented on it.
Please feel free to not try it ;o). I'm not selling anything or trying to convince anybody to try anything. Results may vary. Void where prohibited. I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV. No warranty or guarantee is expressed or implied by the creator of this exercise. yada yada yada |

The creator of this exercise said to do the exercise 2-3 times a day, 30 repetitions each, for 3-4 months before you see results.
She has recently combined it with Carole Maggio's exercise to help lift the tip.
Good luck everyone! |

This exercise is terrible. Don't do it.
It made my nose wider resulting in bigger and flared nostrils.
What a disaster! |

I think it would be easier to get a nose job.,at least you will know you will get a real change. |

How does a non-surgical nose job work? Is this where they strategically inject botox in certain areas to get a slimming effect of the nose & so that the nostrils don't flare as much?
I also remember seeing this contraption that was used on the nose to make it slimmer. The before & after pictures were pretty impressive. It was on an asian beauty site. I'll try to find it & will post the link later. |

I've also seen this on the news before.. it's very popular in Japan and Korea.. mostly Korea though. They inject some kind of fluid in your nose to make it soft, then they would mold it to enhance the nose shape. |

Um, your nose is cartilage. You can't do exercises to change the shape of it...I'm leaning towards the fact that these "nose exercises" are probably exercising the muscle in your face around your nose that support it. Not your nose itself.
Nothing but surgery/injections will change the shape of your nose.
You can't work cartilage like a muscle. |

There is a Carol Maggio excercise she swears 'fixed' a bad nose job. Basically you gently push up on the end of your nose, just to provide resistance. Then, using the muscles around your nose ( not your cartilage ) push against your finger. I can do it and really feel the muscles, but I don't do it often enough to expect any results, so i can't tell you if it works. |

Yes, it is called the "nose shortener", but it supposed to narrow the nose also. Here it is from the book "Facercise":
Quote: |
In a sitting position or lying down, use the forefinger to push the tip of the nose up and hold firmly in place. Flex your nose down by pulling your upper lip down over the teeth, holding for a second before releasing the lip. Repeat 35 times, feeling the nose tip push against the finger each time. Remember to keep breathing at a steady rate while you do the repetitions. Do the nose shortener once a day, twice if you are shortening a very long nose or narrowing a wide nose. |
I've had the book for years, but I just dug it out and started doing the exercises a week ago. I had been reading that facial exercises probably didn't work, but then I read the newest Perricone book, and he says exercises do work, and that the muscle contours are what make the face look young. He uses some sort of glove that he sells. Having taken anatomy class, I believe her exercises would be more efficient, so I am trying them out. And she looks great for her age in the video. |

I have the Carole Maggio book and dvd, and imho her exercises do help to keep the face firmer, I dont know about the nose shortener though, as that is one exercise I skip

I ordered the Facercise book and the DVD's. I heard that they can help people with numbness in the face so I'm giving them a try. |
