Has anyone ever used these products and are they mineral based? Is the ingredient "Mica" a good thing?
I really would like some advice on choosing either the CoverFX line or try a mineral makeup line such as Jane Iredale or something...

Hi Toronto Belle,
I use CoverFX ... some of which are mineral based. Their PowderFX, bronzers and their finishing powder are certainly minerals. I don't know about their other products.
I began using it because it was the only product I could actually, physically go and test as I live in rural Canada. I found it at Shoppers in Brantford.
You may have other locations to test mineral makeup in T.O. ... like Sephora ... but we don't have them in this area.
Mica is the mineral that gives the "sheen" to some of the mineral makeups ... like the finishing powder. Some people like the effect of mica ... others don't. I think it's a matter of preference. There are some mineral makeups that boast being "mica-free" although I'm not sure what the benefit of that is except the lack of sheen.
Just for comparison, I have ordered samples from a couple of the smaller mineral companies in the U.S. ... which take a frustratingly long time to arrive. I have received one batch of loose minerals ... Mineral Basics and I quite like them.
The Mineral Basics isn't better than CoverFX ... just different. I've actually combined the two ... just to see the effect. The coverage of the two products is about the same.
I am awaiting samples from Pure Luxe ...
Again, I'm not expecting the Pure Luxe to be better than either the CoverFX or the Mineral Basics ... I just anticipate that Pure Luxe might be different again.
Hope that helps.
